He claimed he slipped on the dock at the lake (or some similar bullshit if I’m recalling correctly) to explain why he looked so different.
Blatant fib, but funny that he’s so insecure that he needed the surgery annnd knew he’d need a lie to deflect the speculation….but that’s the best he could come up with despite KNOWING it was going to be discussed when he emerged in public with his new face.
Edit: bungee cord to the eye on the dock was his tale. Had to have “eye surgery.”
As we all know, your entire face is a part of the left eyeball….and when the eye surgeon reattaches your retina or whatever, he has to give you Botox and a facelift or risk getting slapped with a malpractice suit haha
