Humble Brag / One-Up Thread

You still go there?

I did a couple years ago after my grandpa passed away to write his name on a cliff up there, the new owners used to come up a lot when I was up there all summer so I can still if I want to. Not regularly though, there’s only so much fishing you can do in one lake.

I’m trying to work out going up there this year for a moose hunt though.

Got my hand and arm caught in a power take off (pto) behind a tractor attached to a post hole digger. Luckily my dad had just shut the pto off. It wrapped my arm and elbow all around it and was just ready to rip my arm out of socket when it quit turning. Tore all my skin open from my knuckles to the middle of my forearm. I could see my skeleton, tendons, everything then it was all just covered in blood. Lost some motor nerves in the top of my hand so I have no feeling in places, but I kept my hand and arm. 82 stitches.

I've seen a few of those, some that didn't turn out quite as lucky. Nastiest farm injury there is.

I scored in the 98th percentile on the GMAT and got a full ride for my MBA. I've always been good at standardized tests and it makes me sad that college are practically ignoring them these days.
I scored really high on my ASVAB as a sophomore and the Air Force was sending me a ton of recruitment stuff. Had no interest at the time. Probably would have been a good idea looking back.

For law school and business school I think it's still as or more important than your grades. LSAT was the thing that saved me as otherwise I fucked around too much in UG.

3.1 GPA at UNL with a History Degree and Russian minor (paid money to take 2 summer classes I didn't need to graduate, just to bump the GPA above the 3.0 line)

Shit I did not even know UNL had a Russian minor. If you still speak/read Russian, that's badass.

I know I was towards the bottom of incoming GPA for my 1L class. Shit, 25th percentile was a 3.65 and 50th percentile was a 3.90.

same here, bunch of dorks who always wanted to go to law skewl and protected their GPA all of undergrad by taking easy classes or not overloading, etc

only problem is law school isn't easy classes and light work load....

Not a brag personally but I always thought it’s bit of a crazy sports story. My hs football team had barely won in 20 years & we had a coach who didn’t really know football & was squandering talent but hs admin didn’t care. He’s a reserve & gets called to duty(grunt work where there’s no action) so young guy is interim hc & makes changes with my class & another having a bunch of talent so we are immediately pretty good.

Haven’t beat our rival in like 18 years, hs version of Kirk Ferentz basically, our game has a frost/Akron delay & we kick off late only to get our ass kicked cuz we checked out after laying in the gym 2 hours. Make playoffs & first round is our rival, shit ton of hs alumn come for the game & we win on a goalline stop so when we got back to town ppl were lined in the street celebrating with cops & fire dept escorting us in, it was at this point, I knew my virgin gf(she didn’t stay a virgin for much longer)would at least give me a handy while play with the boobies.

We were expected to lose the next game & rolled to semis, won in OT then got our ass kicked in the title game. Afterwards coach comes back & the admin is expected to make em co-HCs & I get pulled into this meeting with our OC & small group of players, basically giving us a tearful speech how if we want to win the title, we need to pull a coup. All the captains were down, probably in on it from the start & I just remember melting into this wall as our 3 best players tell this guy in his living room not to comeback & he’s tearing up/wife is crying, just fucked but we were dumbass kids. Next season we’re one game short of playoffs, karma bit us in the ass.

Reminds me when Falls City beat Auburn in football for the first time in 20 years.

I played every snap. I had 40 yards rushing on 5 carries... sounds more impressive than it was tho cuz our RB and QB were both really good so the defense literally DGAF about me on fullback traps or gives cuz they were keying on them.

Ran Maryland I and Power I formation most of the night. It was glorious, gorgeous to see, a real thing of beauty.

RUN THE DAMN BALL
