Honestly, have you been that impressed with Rhule since he got here?

What a list lol. I thought Mathis and Drew were going to absolutely transform our DL.
That's why I'm SMH at all our fans wanting to fire 7-8 of our position coaches because they're not "developing" our portal guys. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Most of these guys at worst are busts or at best just stay the exact same guy they were at Oklahoma St or Texas Tech etc. In Mathis's case - he was the same, he just looked worse bc the B1G is harder (sound familiar?)

None of our portal transfers are "incapable"...the question is, will they magically become the player you want them to be when they play for NU? The vast majority of transfer portal guys just stay the same guy (though they might look worse bc Big Ten is harder than Big 12 etc). I present to you:

Ochaun Mathis
Jeff Sims
Arik Gilbert
Markese Stepp
Tyreke Johnson
Jahkeem Green
Kaine Williams
Devin Drew
Hunter Anthony
Stephon Wynne
Ezra Miller

I'm kind of done with expecting these 3 and 4-yr players to transform into a new guy just because they're wearing a Nebraska jersey. I think if you get a FR or SO those guys can still develop. But it seems to me most guys who have been in college for 4 yrs aren't changing by the time they get to you. That can be a good thing if you're Cam Ward or Samouri Toure. But a bad thing if you're Jeff Sims hoping he'll "develop". Most of these guys don't.
Not sure what you're arguing here. Are you saying that WR coaching & offensive scheme is fine and that these guys just forgot how to block and turned into complete shitbags the moment they put on the scarlet & cream?

None of those guys outside of Mathis were considered good players before coming to Nebraska.
Getting career backups and expecting production is stupid. You bring them in as depth plays or you are just playing Alabama and Georgias game by taking the players that suck so they can reload in recruiting

I'm saying Jahmal Banks most likely never blocked and isn't going to start now. He's in his 5th yr of college. He's already gotten 4 yrs of coaching at Wake Forest.

Honestly in his case it's probably a combination of laziness and the WF system didn't need him to perimeter block. We probably overlooked that and assumed he would "pick it up" when he got here.

But I got news for you: 5th yr college players usually don't 'pick up' anything.

We need to bring back the no block, no rock. Banks should be on the bench if he refuses to do what the coaches ask of him.

Man, that's some serious cope.

The point is, every single one of those guys stayed the exact same guy when they got here. My guess is if you took data on all the transfer portal people nationwide, very few of the 3-4 yr guys actually became better players when they reached their new destination.

Good comeback

Enjoy fantasy land. You probably tried to change all the women you dated as well. I'm sure that worked out well for you.
It really is some serious cope. Both Banks and Neyor were highly regarded players and to say "tHeY pRoBaBlY nEvEr BlOcKeD b4" is beyond idiot and your take should be immediately dismissed by anyone interested in honest discussion.

You need to study the transfer portal more.

You sound like a Colorado fan. There's a reason Prime's methods won't work long term. 85% of it is guys that don't change or develop into what you "hope" they can be.

Pretty wild to jump from talking Banks and Neyor to Prime's methods. Yore all over the place.

It's amusing to see the "cope" so many people on this site exhibit. Not too long ago, some posters were convinced that the previous staff was doing everything right, blaming the players for poor execution. Now, the narrative has flipped—people claim it's the coaching that's failing, leading to players not being able to execute in games.

It's amusing how quickly the storyline shifts depending on the circumstances.

No I'm pretty consistent. I expect majority of transfer portal signings to not change when they reach their new destination.

The data overwhelmingly shows that's true.

But to you, data is "cope." You sound like a child.

That ain't no data, that's blind cope. At any level of football, players require coaching and instruction on what their assignments are and how the coaches want them to execute. We've taken two proven players and failed to do that. If our system is so wack that it needs a minimum of three years to teach a WR how to block a corner or safety on a bubble screen then we're just fucked. This is shit that should be taught in weeks and reinforced using reps through spring/fall camps, it isn't a fucking Master's program.

I side with Choca here. The sad reality is I think Banks "knows" how to block, but unfortunately he's abysmal at it.

This is going to sound out of left field, but if we're not even going to have a vertical pass game, then Bullock needs to play more as our best blocking receiver on the perimeter. Which is insane that I'm even saying that, but I don't see Satt really changing anything we're doing on offense in the coming weeks. At least just make sure the receiver is out there that's good at blocking if we're only going to play laterally anyway.

Tbh Bullock has been as bad as Banks the last few games, outside of his outstanding block against Purdoodoo. He might have even graded out worse this past game than Banks at run blocking.

No, that's my point!

And he's not doing it so he should be benched. No block, no rock. I said that in my initial post.

Banks has had 4 yrs of coaching at Wake Forest before he got here. He's been coached on everything at this point. He's a 5th yr SR. And he's choosing not to do it this year.

My guess is they let him get away with this at Wake Forest bc the Dave Clawson system is not a power run game system.
