Give me hope…please.

Not very often I close the spoiler on a vag pic.

Wood still plow with vigor.

I think the Whipple hire was weird along with Raiola. I am very skeptical about those guys.

Both lines will suck, but the schedule is really really easy. I think they can muster 5-6 wins and firmly keep us in Scott Frost purgatory.

I understand why Scott did both, but the Whip hire still feels weird to me too. I don't sense he's here for multiple years if Frost makes it that far. 2 years max IMO

Damn. While I'm not exactly drinking to Kool aide, apparently I'm much more optimistic than most.

What were our issues last year? Far and away, the number 1 issue was special teams. We have made 3 huge additions in this regard - transfer punter Buschini, place kicker transfer Bleekrode and special teams coordinator Bill Busch. That's plenty of reason for hope in regards to special teams.

What were other issues? Well, the offense as a whole. Hard to argue that the offensive staff isn't better. Sure, Raiola is unproven and a concern, but Austin was proven...and not proven good. Adrian made boneheaded play at the most important moment time and time again. Will Casey be better? He has the skillet. Yes, the OL losses Cam, and that is a big loss. But the rest of the OL should be bringing in much more experience and a more aggressive style.

The defensive isn't perfect and the losses of Daniels and Rogers will be tough on the DL. But Dawson seems to be a pretty solid coach and developer. There are a lot of young DL bodies that can certainly step up.

Lastly, the schedule itself should give us hope. I think the schedule alone should give us 2 more wins. Combined with the rest (mainly special teams and coaching), I'll say 7-5 is a very realistic expectation, with a chance at 8 or 9.

That being said, missing a bowl game again wouldn't shock me either...

Whipple probably doesn't think it will last that long either. He gets an easy payday for 1 or 2 years, then gets to retire.
Hypothetical question. Let's say Frost survives another 2 years. Do him and Turd agree on him continuing the CEO role or does he take back over play calling and the offense/HC once Whip "retires" after saving Frost's job?

I really can't guess one way or the other there. I can't imagine Turd would let Frost go back to what was making him so stressed out in the first place.

So this whole conversation is why I love the TpB
1. HOPE
2. ROAST BEEF
3. BEAT UP PUSSY
4. HOPE SOLO
5. SPECIAL TEAMS UNDER FROST
6. EASIER SCHEDULE
7. ROAST BEEF
This place is a little bit of something for everyone! Classy and trashy in each thread.

sorry Fred, but it’s gonna be another couple years until Bernie can go for President again gbr

The OL was so atrocious in the Spring game that it’s making me cringe thinking about it now.

Spring games are never great gauges on the team in the fall though. I just know that excuses from this staff are usually just excuses. Very seldom do they pan out as legitimate reasons for performance. I.e “they weren’t going full speed so they sucked”
