Getting the uncomfortable feeling Frost is coming back

You hearing any rumblings Deano?
The last I heard was post Michigan....

The vibe then was Frost was 100% (unless things drastically changed) getting 2022 and Turd was very motivated in trying to help Frost get over the hump. Also that Frost wasn't set up for success prior to this year hence the reason for the move mid summer to Turd.

Now the year has turned this way...

I would say if I had to bet it I think he gets 2022.

How was he not set up for success? What didn't he get that he needed?

Sorry.. I mean the QB is so important in Frosts offense. No run game to lean on. Plus, Bog Ten teams grind the ball. Frost offense is all about big plays. If we don’t get them.. we punt. Look at how many bad situations we put the defense in because we couldn’t control the clock?? This offense is made for Big 12/Pac 12. Not the Big ten...I have the record of Frost to back me up...
Yeah the way Frost runs the offense is totally dependent on the qb being otherworldly. That’s not how it was at Oregon or how it is most places. Most coaches understand the strengths and limitations of their quarterback and the rest of their team and design the offense accordingly. Frost doesn’t seem to have this understanding. He runs the offense like Martinez is still getting heisman buzz.

No clue... I just know it was reported by Sam OWH iirc, Damon has mentioned it and I have had a private discussion.

The answer I got was situations like the Mo Washington deal.

I don't know enough about what happens behind the scenes of running a football program, but from what I gathered is the athletic department was too hands off. From what I gathered Moos was pushing too much downstream to Frost while he was on his ranch. Now how much of that last one is kicking somebody on his way out?

If you remember Turd saying that he was working on taking things off Frost's plate early when he got here.

Well, lots of the classes that would make up your upper class suffered from really high rates of attrition that happened almost immediately and it seems like we never got all that serious about balancing it out with JUCOs and transfers though they've taken a few.

COVID was obviously totally unexpected but these small numbers in the Jr/Sr classes were going to be a problem just due to the massive attrition in the first two recruiting class under Frost being filled with mostly freshman eligibility players
I get what you are saying.

I think this strategy is the right move given where they are at now, but I agree there was misses in his first 2 years.

OL is probably the spot that needs the most help, but also one that has benefited from the portal already with Nouili and Miller.

It's the right strategy because they lost all cache they have with top players and are unlikely to be able to upgrade the roster immediately with high school recruits. But we're going to get a $20 million test of how well "we're close" plays to transfers and jucos

It gets alluded to all the time, but your vague Mo Washington thing, which is absolutely not a shot at you at all, is the most specific I've seen anyone get. I'd love to know what the fuck people are referring to

Texas went 1969 to 2005 without a title
Michigan from 1948 to 1997
I think Notre Dame has played in 1 since 1988.

It's just not a distinction that fades quickly and if Nebraska would rattle off 6 wins against cupcakes to open next season, we'd shoot up the rankings hilariously fast because we're still a thing even though it doesn't feel like it
We just proved this in 2016 (oh fuck, that was 5 years ago).

He didn't have an AD that would hold his hand through everything and didn't have anyone that would slap his peepee when they saw him fucking up.
Exactly. Frost got to call the shots with Moos it sounded like and he failed on pretty much everything. I would get this talk if Frost was winning 6-8 games a year but we have been a 3-5 win team under him. I really don’t see much hope of keeping him. You’re just going to put the next hire further behind because Frost won’t be able to recruit well the next couple years with the circumstances surrounding him.

The other one is the OU scheduling deal that I know gets brought up.

But I know Damon for about 2 years was hinting at it. If it was just the piece in the newspaper I would have had it as more of an excuse, but I am giving it more merit since I know Damon has been saying it for a while now.

It was kinda my understanding that Moos was brought in to get rid of Riley and hire Frost, then get out of Frost's way. Can't lock horns with or go against the wishes of TO & his Disciples or you are dead meat like the other previous AD's. Fast forward to year 3 & 4 and it seemed like when Moos did try to put Frost's Feet to the Fire and hold him accountable that there was quite a bit of friction. Rumors of near fights at the Country Club or Frost going behind Moos's back on things like the Oklahoma fiasco. Where does Turd stand in the line of command when it comes to Green, TO & the meddling Boosters? And was he brought in to hold Frost's Hand or to be objective thus possibly firing Frost year 1 if he saw things that weren't acceptable?

I do think it's pretty obvious now that they gave Frost way way way too much control. They brought a guy in that had 2 years of HC experience and let him change everything including class schedules because he said "things aren't like they used to be around here and it's all of the former admin's fault" We all agreed because we hated guys like Eichorst and now it's blown up in Nebraska's face. Was Frost ready to coach a football team in the Big 10? Maybe, probably? Was he ready to have the autonomous power that is given to a guy like Nick Saban, Dabo Swinney and Jimbo Fisher? No.

Tradition Coalition strikes again. LOL at anyone who said Turd would break the tradition coalition when HES FUCKING PART OF IT!

He’s a summit league AD and doesn’t have the stones or ability to fire a failed coach and hire one who will be worth a damn at a big boy P5 football program. This whole thing was fucked when Turd got here. It’s been on frost to this point. If Turd allows frost to come back for 2022, it’s squarely on Turd going forward.

It's weird because we have gone all in on the 2023 class and seem to be primarily focusing on HS kids in that class and beyond.

Agreed, tons of 2023 offers and even unofficial visits. But you don't see much of anything for the 2022 class.

Either Turd is perfectly happy being a sock puppet or he will have a very short tenure.

My concern is from a Management standpoint the powers to be should know enough to understand that Frost's personality needs to be held in check at times. His Confidence at times straddles or crosses the line to arrogance. Obviously a bright person if he got into Stanford but an Ego like that needs to be throttled at times so it doesn't get out of hand. It almost feels like he has the beginning of Cluster B Personality Disorder at times as he is never wrong or holding himself responsible. Those are learned behaviors. When leading big strong personalities you still need to keep some power over them or they can really become a detriment to what you are trying to build.

In my previous lifetime I dealt with all kinds of big personalities when working with rock stars, movie stars and pro athletes. If you don't keep them in check or let them run all over you in the smallest way it was very hard to get back to any position of power. They won't listen to you and want to call the shots. Whether it is running a company, concert, festival or running an Athletic Department/University you need to know the personalities you are working with and how to properly deal with them. You need to understand the Psychology necessary to successfully work with them. I think many of the great coaches have a great understanding of Psychology which helps when coaching such a variety of personalities. You need to know how to control, motivate and lead in a manner that keeps them within the boundaries necessary to be successful but also keeps them happy. It's a difficult balance to pull off but the great leaders can do it.

As long as Turd follows the wishes of the Tradition Coalition his job is safe. Results don't matter, just look at Frost's failing tenure. Best thing that can happen to Nebraska Athletics is to get the Tradition Coalition and their Nepotism under control. Let the people in the Athletic Department do the jobs they were hired to do.
