Damar Hamlin Injury MNF

Ugh. When I played baseball this happened to a little kid whose team was playing at the same time on a different field. He got hit in the chest by a ball, they stopped all the games while medics tried to save him, then he got airlifted by a helicopter right off the field but sadly he didn't make it. Absolutely soul crushing stuff.

EDIT: Here's an article I found about it... Jesus I didn't even remember that he was so so so young. https://www.deseret.com/1999/6/28/19452983/baseball-kills-boy-during-game
I remember that. I was pretty good friends with his older brother

I am curious to see what the cause of this was and if he was taking any kind of supplements with Taurine in it. I've had issues with V tach/V Fib and I have to be careful with what I drink, especially if it has Taurine and caffeine together. From what I've researched, taurine enhances you senses and make your body more sensitive to caffeine and other stimulants. Another thing that I have to be careful is any diet drinks that has aspartame in it. Definitely a scary situation that he went through and hope the doctors can find out caused it and prevent it from happening again.
I'm pretty sure they will end up at the diagnosis will be commotio cordis

I don't think any supplements would have any effect on that.

Hope this kid recovers fully. Incredible the personnel on-field were able to bring him back the way they did.
I think he'll be fine long term, but not to the point where he should be back on the field.

He should have a good story and a good charity to run where I can see him leaving the game to go on and be a motivational speaker.

I mean, if you're going to have your heart get stopped after a hard hit to the chest, I guess a professional football field mid-game is the best place possible to have it. Have trainers who are probably CPR/First Aid trained with EMT's in an ambulance not far away.
Every team prepares for this exact scenario too. Friend of mine is an emergency dept physician in Pittsburgh and has worked with the Steelers on response to cardiac events. He said they used to practice it "all the time" but that it's definitely not easy with pads, helmet, etc.

Truly incredible.

When the ambo was waiting at the stadium so his mom could ride along I thought for sure it was because time didn’t matter. Keep him on life support for organ donation/family to say goodbye and that’s that.

So happy for this kid and glad we get to follow what appears to be a really happy/positive recovery story.

That was cringe, but thought it was crazy he asked that.
I don't think it's too crazy he asked that though. Probably the last thing he remembers was making the tackle. Next thing he knows he's in a hospital. Time hasn't moved for him, in his head the game was probably either still going on or just finished.

But yeah...cringy answer.
