I feel very positive about Turd right now. If anything, his side interview today with the local media boys (seriously loved how he suggested having his meeting with Warren in one of their backyards--like Moos and Frost, he has the touch in terms of teasing those guys and they eat it up) was even more impressive than the introductory presser. I truly believe that he's going to do everything he can to make the Frost hire work, but can sense that he's going to assert a meaningful measure of authority that Moos either didn't want to or couldn't (probably a combination of both).
His comments about removing all that non-football/recruiting stuff from Frost's purview and thus allowing him to do his job more effectively was framed perfectly: It sounds positive and supportive, but it's also indirectly sending a message that Frost and his posse (no "Kinda racist" given we're dealing with Western Nebraska bros) were running too much and need to have some of that taken out of their scope of responsibility. Same deal with how Alberts avoided any arbitrary number of wins that he expected from the team, which could later come back and be a problem regardless of how things go (Moos caused controversy with 6 in 2019 and 8-9 before getting canned this year), and instead made clear that he's focusing on more granular things like unforced errors (penalties, ST).
Moos had that big-dick alpha energy, but he was probably a bit too old/drunk and, despite his folksy charm, still an outsider here. Alberts is only a few years older than Frost, is in great post-football career shape, and is an even better individual ex-Husker player than Frost (no small feat, because Frost was awesome). He's one of the very few guys who can actually step to Frost, and the UNO shit shows he won't hesitate to do it if necessary.
That's where I'm at right now, at least. It's nice to feel like we're in good hands at the AD position.
