CFB Expansion Talk

I’m more inclined to agree with @God is a Husker on this one when he says we’re gonna get some grand posturing by a lot of people and then like 4 schools are actually willing to pull the trigger.
I keep coming back to USC. They're a blue blood and a traditional CFB power in the 2nd largest tv market in the country and they're a national brand. And they're making $33 million under their current PAC revenue distribution. Meanwhile Alabama and Texas and LSU are going to make $70 million.

If you were USC in that scenario, what would you do?

At some point, the league needs you more than you need it. USC is in that boat. They could double their take by making a move.

I can't speak for him, but I suspect one of the reasons he believes things will stay relatively stable is contracts ... and attorneys know that contract law matters.

Listen, it's fantastic speculation to dream about moving chess pieces around until you get an optimal solution (for now, because like everything else in life, success is cyclical) that maximizes fan interest and potential TV revenue. And then you have to reality check those interests against what's in the current conference GOR contracts (legally enforceable) and what the various administrative leaders of these institutions (academics) want to do.

Again, it's great fun hypothesizing and speculating about all of this. I enjoy it, too. But at the end of the day, I suspect it will turn out like this:

That's my thought as well. Looking at it from the Big Ten's side... OU and Texas to the SEC is apparently almost a done deal. We're not getting anyone from the SEC unless A&M REALLY hates the idea of being in the same conference as Texas again. The ACC teams have buyouts too large to consider. Nebraska's Big 8 nostalgia aside, there's no one left in the Big 12 worth taking (maaaybe KU for basketball, but their football is beyond dismal). The best remaining option is to raid the top of the Pac.

I think there's a strong chance that we'll see the existing P5/G5 system split into three tiers. SEC and Big Ten at the top, ACC and some configuration of the remains of the Big 12 and Pac in the middle, and existing G5 at the bottom. I could maybe see the AAC making it into the mid tier, especially if they pull in some Big 12 teams.

Sorry for the ignorance. What is BTM
the minnesota guy is posting tweets about big 10 expansion on his twitter

his tweets have BTM on them

BTM = his source he claims is inside the big 10 or fox or whatever

BTM signals that whatever he is posting comes from his source

Looks like when I was in the mortar platoon in the early 90's

I agree with Sean this morning in his article. This potential expansion will make or break his [Kevin Warren] time here. If you strike out completely, he definitely needs to go.
