Cameron Ward ???

In a world of trying to attract million dollar players and million dollar donations, not sure how PR can be seen as ridiculous.
I don't think it is - it is money well-spent. It is ridiculous from a recruiting perspective.

Ward should be #1 on our board and it isn’t even close.

The problem is that Ward is #1 on about 20 schools’ boards.

Why would he go to Nebraska?
  • Can offer a sizable NIL package. As big as OSU? Probably not. But at least serviceable.
  • We are slated to have an elite defense next season. WSU had roughly the 80-90th ranked defense depending on how you look at it. We should be top 15. Cam Ward actually makes our defense better, oddly enough, by keeping them off the field.
  • Our WR aren’t world-beaters, however they are probably better than WSU.
  • Our offensive line is actually not that bad.
  • And perhaps the most important thing he is looking for, he probably wants to prove himself in an offense that can show scouts he can translate it to the next level against good competition.
Will these move the needle in our direction? Probably not. There’s lots of colleges that can make the same claims. But, if we are flying out there to see him, it means there must be at least SOME interest.

Dream big fellas.

If we had gotten Cam Ward last time around, Scott Frost is still our coach.

Ward is a wet dream in a Mark Whipple offense.

Lifetime td:int ratio of 119:30. Nearly 14,000 yards and a 65% completion rate.
What the hell will our receivers do if the ball actually hits them in the hands? I'm genuinely curious here!

All of the other schools he seems to be considering (FSU, Oregon, OSU(?)) are ones where if they don’t win the national title, it will be seen as a failure of a season and he will take the blame.

If he comes to NU and wins 8 games in the new big 10, he will be a miracle worker and credited with reviving an Cockeye-esque debacle of an offense.

At least that’s what I’m telling myself.

People in this thread being very weird. Did yall have a bad nights sleep?

It's not a dog and pony show to fly out to meet these guys. They have to be willing to take time out of their day to meet with the staff, and this staff has vetted and communicated with them enough to make the trip. Turd isn't handing out private jet hours for a tweet. 80% of nebraska fans have no idea about all of these meetings, it's not to appease the die hards who pay for message boards.

And even if the top guys the are meeting with are long shots, it helps give the staff reps on the pitch deck, gauge the market, identify the competitions packages, etc.

At the very least, this is a lot fucking better waste of time than kicking out the golf team to use the simulator with your bros

Why would he come here when he can go somewhere with a good o line not get killed and make the same or more?

Gabriel is going to Oregon and Ohio state has a 5 star on campus, LK, and the #1 overall qb in this year’s class signing with them in two weeks. So, a transfer has to be aware of that too when deciding to pick them. Washington and notre dame are also likely of the board.
Ohio St is absolutely getting a portal QB. If they were happy with their QB room McCord wouldn't be in the portal.
