Holy shit, man. I've never felt more seen and more validated in my entire life. I've been complaining about this for YEARS. Don't quote me on this, but I'm pretty certain it's a felony for truck drivers to not take an hour to pass another semi.

Totally forgot about this til now lol...went on a Bumble date a few years ago with a girl whose dad was a truck driver. She told me they pass each other slowly on purpose. And a lot of times they'll get on the same radio frequency as the truck they're passing and talk to each other.

Prison.

They definitely sometimes do this. Many trucks also have limiters that maxes out their top speed, so the passing truck can't do it faster even if they want to. IMO, right lane trucks not temporarily dropping their speed by a couple MPH when there's a passing truck are often a culprit.

Just your standard 20 under dueling on i80

I had a similar scenario coming back through Glenwood Canyon last night. Swift driver who believe it or not was actually just cruising along in the right lane (trucks are only allowed in the right lane in the canyon now) and another unmarked truck going in and out of the right lane trying to pass the Swift truck for a couple miles or so.

Truckers seem to always either be super awesome and respectful drivers or complete and utter dickheads. There's really not much middle ground.

Worst wreck I've ever been involved in was a trucker had a single working brake on his entire rig. Blew a stop sign by going around a car and two other semis that were stopped at said stop sign. T boned an SUV, killing both occupants, flipping his rig and eventually leading to his own death. All because of poor maintenance and attentiveness.
At least the cock sucker died. One less dirtbag trucker.

I really don’t get it when Semis do it. Your fucking job is to drive, you should at the very least be able to follow the basic rules that the general public expect of eachother.

Although my dad was a dispatcher for 20 years, based on some of his stories on shit he dealt with from truckers - I do understand it.

Truckers if they had half a brain wouldn't be truckers. You can't expect too much mental firepower.

This is a shot at my old man more than anything so sorry if any feelings get hurt....

Was on I-80 out towards Western NE today, and I shit you not. Semi came whipping around me so fast I thought I was going backwards. I always love a good speed competition, so I jammed the pedal down. When I chickened out at 92 MPH, he was still pulling away from me. Mid-2000s semi with a 53' van trailer, legitimately traveling at 95 mph or more. I wouldnt believe it if I hadnt seen it. Felt like I had to narc on him as he was also kind of weaving and stuff, so I made the call but never seen him pulled over as far as I went. Honestly didn't think semis had the gears for this behavior.

Hello darkness my old friend, get the fuck out of the fast lane going 66

On I-40 when I've come down entrance ramp onto interstate, I've had to slam breaks or speed up on shoulder to avoid truckers that don't use the empty lane to their left to allow for merging traffic. Most truckers allow for it when I'm merging, but every once in awhile I get caught off guard by a trucker that decides to be an ass.
