Thanks for the insights...Why do you think Turd and so many fans want or wanted Hoiberg gone? I get that his start was dreadful, but let’s be honest—it’s Nebraska basketball, and only giving a coach four years to fix it feels shortsighted. Maybe people expected instant success because of what he did at ISU? Hoiberg had five very successful years there, so I don't think he just forgot how to coach. There has to be more to it.
I don’t buy the idea that NU’s basketball struggles are simply due to hiring bad coaches. It’s part of it—but if coaching was the only issue, someone would’ve broken through by now. The bigger problem seems to be structural—whether it’s a lack of donor support, consistent recruiting pipelines, or the challenge of attracting elite talent to Lincoln.
Plus, the Big Ten is a brutal basketball conference. You’re asking a coach to rebuild a historically weak program while competing against some of the best and most well-funded teams in the country.
At the same time, I am pissed because I've seen flashes of what this program could be. When you see schools with similar or worse basketball traditions (like Northwestern) make tournament runs, it pisses me off as to why Nebraska can’t seem to get over the hump. Fixing NU basketball probably requires more than just swapping out coaches—it seems more complex than that.
