2023-24 Portal Szn

Yeah based on follows and our numbers I’d say 1-2 QBs, LB, and a WR.
I'd say RB over WR. It would be nice to add a proven WR. But with Coleman, Lloyd and Doss returning and quality WRs in this recruiting class vs EJ, Ives and no RBs in this recruiting class, that has to be the bigger need.

Personally I'd agree with you, but at this point in time the staff is following many more WRs than they are RBs.

I think that's because we don't have our RB coach for 2024 on staff currently. Could be wrong, but there was way too much smoke with Barthel last week for nothing to come of it IMO.

What’s up with Barthel

What’s up with Barthel
Smoke that he doesn't see eye to eye with the rest of the staff and is looking to take a job elsewhere. Nothing confirmed or anything, but where there's smoke....

I really hate NIL.

Just saying.
It's a double edged sword.

Great for our walk-ons from preferred to just regular try-outs. But with the bigger players transferring from the portal, it's always the schools with the biggest paycheck offerings that will win.

100% how I feel but for me the negatives outweigh the positives.

I also feel bad for schools like Toledo who found/offered the kid only to see him leave for bigger opportunities. I don’t blame the kid one bit but I feel like this will be the death of small/mid major programs.

Were you always against NIL? What would be your preferred system?

But you would never think it’s wrong from someone to leave a smaller company to go to something with more opportunity. 100% agree that things need to be worked out but college football is a full time job. Those players deserve to be paid while schools profit millions of dollars. The truth is that people don’t like it because we get outbid.
