2022 Nebraska HC Board

He is 77-8 as a head coach, is from the Midwest (SD) has been a coordinator and coach in the B10(Indiana when they have had great success). Develops guys, can and would develop QB’s, think he has the moral fiber and demeanor to fit in and do well at Nebraska. Will hire coaches and coordinators with the funds Nebraska affords him.
The biggest question with him will be can he recruit to the BIG? I’m sure he is a quality coach coaching wise.

Don’t disagree with you there. I think Nebraska has screwed up the last 15 years post Callahan by not hiring one to two ace recruiters on staff (Ed Orgeron, John Blake types). I think Turd will have some say in coaching staff as far as what he expects to be hired, not so much The Who but what it should look like. I think he does that even if Frost is retained.

Don’t make me puke now with that last sentence.

O’Brien won’t happen. Buddy knows ppl with Texans & apparently he’s a giant asshole, don’t think that he’ll be Turd’s guy.

I don’t really get why people want O’Brien anyway. Dude wasn’t even a good pro coach
Ummm…because he was a pretty good college coach especially considering the situation he inherited. What I find intriguing about O’Brien is that he has P5 head coaching experience, but right now as an assistant he’s not tied to any of “his staff” to bring with that you would typically have with hiring a current head coach. Would conceivably give him the ability to go out and build a really good coaching staff.

Glad you put DeBoer on there. That guy is a hell of a coach. Look at what he did at Indiana and look at how they're doing without him.

The only way a guy like DeBoer or Chadwell could even get a sniff, imo, is if they had a very actionable plan for breaking the bank and going to hire 5-6 absolutely top tier assistant coaches

I think the main argument for Freeman over Leonhard is probably recruiting. I would also like to stick it to Wisconsin and steal their DC. I think it would be a pretty good hit to Wisconsin taking him.
I also think his race is a plus. I, personally, don't care if the next coach is white, black or purple - I just want the best man for the job. But if all things are even, I think it would definitely be a benefit.

I'm less high on Campbell than I was 12 months ago. I think he's still a big improvement over Frost, but there have been some red flags this season
There were red flags for Kiffin in last nights game, game management-wise too.

Still any one of these would be an improvement and Nebraska is a better job than where they’re at now.

Agreed. No candidate is going to be perfect, but I had hoped Campbell would take a more obvious step forward in a year where the bIg 12 looked kind of winnable. He's still going to finish something like 8-4 at ISU so maybe this is just the curse of expectations.

He’s maxed out at ISU, there’s only so much he can do there.

He could have beaten West Virginia, but I think you're probably right. Without Texas and OU in the conference it's going to be hard to sustain on what is likely a meager TV deal

First thing we need to look it is how does he want his offense and defense to look. Frost failed bc he neglected the oline for so long. We need ball control and a stout defense. Be a more athletic Cockeyes/Wisconsin at the skill positions. Mobile qb who is pass first run second guy.
Probably the first thing we need is to understand as fans that we shouldn’t dictate the type of offense or defense Nebraska runs
