I’ll continue to chill with my two week old and act like I didn’t read this thread. I learned pretty quickly that all this extra stuff in my life that I thought I cared about really actually don’t matter. She’s such a blessing.

start right away. like before theyre 1.They all go through the phase. Lasts a lot longer if they get what they want and/or get tons of attention from the parents when they throw the antics.
IMO they need to hear "no" a lot with no further cajoling or debate beyond "because I said so," then a calm swat if they don't comply. It sucks at first while they learn the expectations, but makes things massively easier once they understand.
Godspeed.

Sometimes they just need a few good swats on the ass and something taken away for them to calm down. They all go through the phase. Lasts a lot longer if they get what they want and/or get tons of attention from the parents when they throw the antics.

Give her a swat on the butt too.Any tips for getting wives on the same page? Nothing pisses me off more than when my wife consoles them after I discipline
Consistency is the key. If she is undermining you on the discipline, Capt. Obvious here, the discipline doesn't stick. My wife and I went through that on both sides. We had a long couple of talks and agreed that we would talk about it if possible prior to punishment OR the stern talking to. IF there wasn't time for that we had to present a united front.Any tips for getting wives on the same page? Nothing pisses me off more than when my wife consoles them after I discipline
That sounds like hell. I’m a weak man so when our 2 year old and 9 month old get out of routine the screaming happens more often and my patience gets worse. Gonna be a long few years. “Night night dada” makes it all go away though. It’s a balance. We had to wake our 4 and almost 2 year olds up at 3am yesterday to go to the airport and fly out to California. Each kid napped for less than an hour on the flights and then we had to deal with getting them both to go to sleep in the same room (they have separate rooms at home) and in a new place when they were past exhaustion to the point of delirium. Needless to say the behavior yesterday evening wasn’t the best.

Amazingly they’ve been great today. We had an indoor snowball fight with these lightweight cotton fake snowballs and now they’re both playing piano, which aside from sounding terrible is very fun for them. That sounds like hell. My dad is going to start a 529 for my daughter here soon. He's really big on the investment/savings account department. Big math guy. Hope that helpsWhat’s everyone’s experience/recommendations for investment/savings accounts for their kids? My financial advisor was talking me into a 529. I like the idea of it but would like to hear from other parents.
We have 529s which are fine, but tied to education expenses. An UGMA would work too if you don't want it as tied to education expenses, but these usually become their money some day and you lose control (which probably is more or less desirable depending on the child)What’s everyone’s experience/recommendations for investment/savings accounts for their kids? 529 is great for education related expenses but is a terrible idea for anything else. We have one for each of our kids because we don’t anticipate them ever qualifying for scholarship money unless it’s merit based. What’s everyone’s experience/recommendations for investment/savings accounts for their kids? One thing that I liked on the 529 is that you can change the beneficiary at any point. So if I wanted to go and take more classes or continuing Ed, I could change it to myself and grab some money then change it back.My dad is going to start a 529 for my daughter here soon. damn that’s an expensive piano (I feel like I’m the only one on the board who would know this🤣)Amazingly they’ve been great today. I was massively against any sort of cosleeping when our first was born. My wife didn't give a shit. It was easier for her to feed at night that way. So I gave up and now I honestly cherish every morning I wake up and have three little ones snuggling up to me. Despite the lack of sleep it gives me.That's actually encouraging to hear, jokes aside. I seem to be in the minority in this particular parenting department. However, she's now too big for her changing table/crib attachment deal, and she is getting close to too big for her crib anyway, so she signs are creeping up on mama for that big girl bed.
