I feel like getting starters for FBS non power 5s and FCS studs is the best path for high floor additions instead of a 3rd string from a P5 that has little to no film or experience.

On one hand I'm grateful for the transfer portal because otherwise we'd be stuck with an unbelievably bad QB depth chart going into next season, but in general I can't stand this new free agency situation every offseason.

You basically have to expect that any good QB on about 90% of teams in the country will likely play for a minimum of two teams in their career, sometimes three. And every offseason it's a crapshoot for teams whether their QB will stay or not. A good season is rewarded with offers from better teams, and there's not much the current teams can do about it except beg them to stay. It's just a nonsensical way to run a sport.

Coaches sign contracts. At a minimum, their buyout has to be paid.

We're probably rapidly approaching that scenario with the players, but without that contractual obligation, it's a bit ridiculous.
