Coming INTO the position at either school, I think A$M's list of coaches was more impressive at the time of their hires than the OleMiss coaches. Yet Ole miss has 1 less win per year on average. They are the same. Now - obviously resources would be better. But legitimate coaches have gone to A$M to die. There's some reason for that. So again - why leave something you have rolling at a higher capacity like Lane at Ole Miss to take on something that has just as much going against it as it does upside? Lane is at 9Million - Jimbo was at 9.1 Million. He aint making more money at A$M - not significant money that makes it worth the gamble at least.

For a program that expects to be national tile contenders every year, they suck dick. Jimbo is a legitimate coach. Sumlin certainly had faults but there wasn't too many as charismatic and offensively adept as him.

There's a weird fuggin culture at A$M and I do think that plays into the lack of high level success there that keeps a top-tier guy like Lane from going there. If anything the comp is Tennessee - overwhelming expectations despite pretty mediocre/average results at best. And Lane has already been at Tennessee and hated it.

Now - a guy like Elko who is LOOKING for his big time job, great. Go build it up and leave your mark on a program that thinks they should be better than they are, you'll be a hero. In my opinion they gotta try something a bit different, and Elko would be that.

At some point high level guys have to be asking "why has literally everyone failed there since mid-90s RC Slocum? They've had the resources and the recruiting hot bed that entire time...

A&M has everything it needs to win big. The problem with A&M is the job is about more than coaching football. They really need a guy with skills like Matt Rhule that can come in there and handle all of the off the field bullshit while also keep things together on it. The brass at A&M doesn't understand this though, so they will continue to hire guys that only know how to coach football. A&M literally had Bear Bryant as their coach for 3 years. When they told him they would be the last school to integrate black players, he told them then that's where they'll finish. It's no coincidence his tenure there was short. Not saying the racism is still there, but that's just an example of the behind the scenes undermining that likely continues to this very day.

Maryland is a shit comparison. A$M has won a lot more games. They just told a coach to gtfo while paying him 76 million and will probably spend another 100 million for a new coach. They have a lot of talent in their back yard and a solid roster. A guy like Urb could go there and win quick. The only downfall is that you’re in the sec west which is the toughest conference in football.

They have a lot of talent in their back yard and a solid roster. A guy like Urb could go there and win quick. It’s a principle thing - all the talent nothing to show for it. Obviously it’s not a direct comp. Maryland is top 20 class so many years and goes 5-7 to 7-5 every year.

Also - I don’t give a fuck what they spend. That just makes them better at wasting money. If they have all the money in the world, why did they settle for a “not good coach” like Jimbo last time around.

You’re only proving my point - no fucking shit they have Texas talent in their backyard, no fucking shit they have all the money in the world, no fucking shit they pull huge recruiting classes. Yet they are the only ones consistently pulling those classes and NOT winning at the same rate their classes say they should. NIL was supposed to solve all their problems, and it didn’t. Same old mediocre results. For 4 straight coaches. All the way back to Dennis Fucking Franchione. One really good season every 6-8 years.

I disagree. As of last night, UW is negotiating with Deboer on a restructure/extension yet again. Twice in 2 years.

With that - he's coming to the B1G which will provide a HUGE earning potential, but has 2 years of turning UW into a winning program before they launch into their new endeavor. The ability to continue to win will pay off far more than taking the current highest bidder, step into a fucked situation, and become a loser. It's happened to many who just keep jumping.

I am a HUGE proponent of guys needing to be honest with themselves. Am I a HC or am I a DAMN GOOD coordinator? Is A$M a better job than UW? Is quick payoff now worth rebuilding a school that other than Johnny Football, hasn't had much of a brightspot in 30 years? A&M has had 4+ losses in 23 of their last 25 seasons. Why jump there when you're about to take a potentially undefeated, Heisman contending QB led team, into the B1G as the playoff expands to 12 teams? You're already going to be a top 15 program in the country simply by keeping THAT rolling. And your current school is showing that they are willing to continue to restructure as you perform.

1) why do you feel the need to put huge in all caps
2) A&M way easier to recruit with less travel.
3) better NIL
4) better weather/talent/conference for air raid offense
5) doubt he cares about being middle of the pack B1G team
6) and almost triple your fuggin salary
