Bat, and it is no contest. Been involved with 100's & 100's of fights, some involving weapons. Knife doesn't worry me that much.

After a big fight we broke up I had some drunk say he was going to stab me as he was reaching for a knife in his back pocket. I started unbuckling my leather belt and told him if he broke out his knife I was gonna beat him like a fucking Rented Mule. And I would of. Started yelling at him to fucking do it as I was gonna whoop him within an inch of his life. He didn't produce the knife and left. Unless it is a Croc Dundee knife I'm not overly worried about a knife.

Had a guy grab a nearby spade/shovel once during a fight and that was a bit more unnerving. If somebody breaks out a bat I'm out of there as I can't think of any way to safely block or defend the swing of a bat.

Some of you folks who think swinging a baseball bat takes so much movement - like 'wheel back and swing' - are nuts. 150 milliseconds from the point in time you decide to swing to the point in time you make contact, coming in at a normal person speed of 60-70mph....that's it.
