The interesting thing would be is that Urb would win fast and fans wouldn’t give a shit. College football is always about the coach.

My point is that the fans would create a hero worship of Urban before he even coached a practice. I'm not saying that's inherently bad... I'm just saying that the way they market Minnesota football as Minnesota = Fleck would not fly here (if Fleck coached here). Fleck doesn't have enough accomplishments to justify that God-like status here.

I don't think Urban would want that. Ohio State didn't market their program that way. Urb wouldn't want that at NU. I think the fans would be uncomfortable about tying up the NU proud history/identity to a guy who's probably only going to be here 3 yrs.

More programs than Minnesota do this with their HC. It's actually quite common in the SEC with those head coaches.

I'd also note that we'll have a bigger appetite for sharing the brand if it means we have a winning program. For all the folks calling for Urban Meyer, he'd have a much bigger brand footprint than you can begin to imagine.

Michigan does it with Harbaugh, pretty successfully, I might add. Agreed, some of the SEC schools do it.

Notre Dame doesn't because their brand is bigger than one person. Oregon doesn't either because they've established a strong brand bigger than any one HC. Minnesota FB has no brand so they're happy to slap Fleck's face all over everything - it's actually smart of them to do this. Nebraska's brand is our fans, I never felt like the university held Frost out there like Duke does with Coach K.

I just find it interesting to see how different programs approach it.

I think Fleck is a great coach. And I actually think a good leader as well. He has a lot of positive leadership messages that he instills in his players. Much the opposite of Frost, who didn't seem to read any books or want to teach anyone anything.

Fleck is Lee Iacocca in leadership compared to Frost.

Fat Bert is in too deep with the fart sniffers at the B1G head office like Alvarez and Kevin Warren. He would get us to 8-9 wins but nothing more. B1G head office wouldn’t let him.
