What 4 teams get in?

It will be interesting to see if Bowers plays. There really is no reason to. I’ll give this to Saban. He somehow got guys to buy in and play against KSU.
Bowers playing would be stupid.

Pretty clear that ankle is fucked and he's already going to be a top 10 pick.

He'll probably still play since he's a baller.

I think some people don't understand that they're looking for the four best teams.

Georgia, Ohio State and Oregon are all better than FSU right now.
How can you possibly know that though when there is no head to head. Out of the top 4 the only thing you can definitively say is Texas is better than Bama. Why even play the games if we’re just gonna go off an eye test or feelings? Advanced stats? Again, why even play the games? Just give the playoff spots to the teams with the highest average recruiting rankings over the last 4 years which in this environment just means the teams with the highest NIL budgets. There’s no salary cap or draft to eventually equalize everything either. Can’t believe people still watch this completely anticompetitive “sport.”

Bowers being hurt with 84 was probably the difference yesterday.

Just ridiculous and goes against the supposed point of the recent evolution of the sport. We were all told that the Playoff would make teams “earn it on the field!” and “take bias out of the equation!” But all it did was replace one group of voters with a different group of voters. A Power 5 team goes undefeated and yet they still get left out because of eyeball tests and losing their star player? It’s absurd. Either wins mean something or they don’t.

The Playoff is all about money and tv deals and it has done nothing to create a better championship or more entertaining product than the BCS or the original bowl system did.

The current structure doesn't constitute a genuine playoff or tournament; rather, it operates more as an invitational event, as the teams are selected not based on merit but on opinion.
They might as well brand the Playoff as reality tv. Unbelievable that they can just determine the outcome by what they think will make better tv viewing instead of letting the sport play out as a sport. What other sport has higher ups who would ever run things this way?

In 10 years Kirk Herbstreit will be making an argument for some middle of the road SEC team to get in the playoff over the second place big 12 team with a better record.

Would it surprise me if a 10-2 big 10 team is better than a 12-0 big 12 team?

No.

No.
If that’s the case they need to just make it official. Big Ten and SEC teams are in their own tier, other conferences can sometimes jump up into the playoff in the bottom seeds if they’re undefeated. End the charade of pretending the regular season all counts the same.

But people will still bitch if the 13th team is left out.

That's a big reason they expanded to 4, but here we are bitching about the 5th team being left out.
No doubt. Especially when it goes to 12 teams, there will be a whole lot of programs/teams/coaches who have a whole lot riding on whether or not they make a Playoff in their careers. I'm sure coaches have that kind of thing in their contracts. Missing the cut or making the cut probably should have a more cut and dried definition. At least in the 12 team version there will be an automatic tie-in with winning the conference, if I'm remembering right?
