Defense is athletic enough to overcome being constantly out of positionSafe to say Old Tone is a great DC against trash teams and pretty fucking mid otherwise
Yes and no. Of the three potential playoff teams we faced this year he underperformed against one in a big way (although only 12.10 points off their avg) and overperformed against the other two, holding them to 24 and 16 points off their season avg.Safe to say Old Tone is a great DC against trash teams and pretty fucking mid otherwise
I guess you're probably right.Yes and no. Of the three potential playoff teams we faced this year he underperformed against 1 in a big way (although only 12.10 points off their avg) and overperformed against the other two, holding them to 24 and 16 points off their season avg.

He’s neither a great CEO or visionary. He explained his vision as being a good run dominant team and proceeded to hand over the reigns to an unproven OC and handed him 1.4 million. This is also a bit revealing about Rhule's lack of an eye for offense.
This has shown us that Rhule is obviously not a keen offensive mind. He allowed these shitty standards to persist for 10 games. And Rhule's OC allowed these shitty standards. It's a bad look for Rhule. I think if you had an offensive coach like Lincoln Riley, Sark, Jedd Fisch...he'll, even Scott Frost....they'd have stepped in and gone "Hey #4, #18...you guys are out. WAY below the standard we set here at NU"
It's a bit embarrassing when you have an outside consultant come in and go "shit, these are the standards you've been allowing all year?" It's kind of embarrassing for Rhule. Rhule may be a great CEO and visionary....but as OP mentioned, he's gonna have to hire a quality control hardass if he's not able to do that job himself.
This has me rolling...I nominate this for post of the yearA “CEO” coach would also know how to run a damn 2 minute drill and not be so awful with clock management. He should be guiding his team to victory but instead he looks like a fucking serpent getting smacked over the head.

He then runs an offense that had no identify when he clearly stated he wanted a run heavy offense.
He also then goes and gets TW and wanted him for his unique defense but then this year says he wants an NFL defense? Tell me you dont have a vision without telling me you dont have a vision.

A great CEO also is able to identify the appropriate players who should be playing and not need outside help (glad he at least recognized he lost his vision and brought in Dana.)
Overall the check marks for Rhule being a wash keep stacking up. Hopefully the Dana move pays off in the long run and equal out all the negatives that keep piling up.
This is exactly my opinion, but better said than I could.I'm extremely disappointed that the same WRs have continued to get all the PT when they clearly aren't doing their jobs. This means that McGuire-Satt-Rhule all approve of them getting all the snaps when they've clearly put shit effort in their route running AND perimeter blocking.
How TF do we have all 3 coaches in agreement on this? It's completely unacceptable. It looks bad on Rhule that he allows that to go on. He can override a position coach. Satt can override a position coach. Does McGuire have nudes of these guys or something? Why is he not getting vetoed?
Now the RBs...unfortunately I believe we have 4 shitty RBs, so we don't have any options. But at WR we actually do have other options. McGuire is accountable as the position coach obviously, but this also means that in offensive team meetings, Rhule and Satt are also in agreement that those guys should continue getting all the PT. That's really un-fucking-believable to me. I honestly don't get it. They should have been benched several weeks ago for that shit effort.
Yep. Wherever and whenever Rhule is coaching now or in the future, he must never do it without an extremely strong and tenured OC.Rhule saw a big problem with Satt and made a sudden change, good for him. But I don’t think he knows what to do beyond that.
Yeah that was the interview I posted to tPB. I'll find it and link it.Agree we need Dana to stay on as OC. No way he lets anyone tell him who to retain on his staff. He won’t be afraid to voice his opinion to Rhule if he feels someone needs to go.
That said I listened to a writer who covered DH for a long time talk about his coaching style. He said he brings in seasoned coaches for the line but for some reason prefers young wide receivers coaches. He didn’t say how young. 😂 He probably prefers to coach the WR himself and has a young coach to assist him.
Mcguire being shitty is probably a bigger issue for him than being youngYeah that was the interview I posted to tPB. I'll find it and link it.
The reporter said Dana was a WR so he was very hands on with the WRs so he usually hired a young WR position coach. Not sure what that would mean for McGuire.

I mean he kind of lit up both Barthel and McGuire in that presser. So I would be on notice if I were themMcguire being shitty is probably a bigger issue for him than being young
