Loved the stark but honest presser from Holgs. Exactly what the players, coaches and program needs to hear. RB's and WR's have not been good enough. Hit the damn hole, RB's. Get separationg, WR's. And YES, you need to block downfield.

Don't do that stuff, you won't get the rock.
I'm extremely disappointed that the same WRs have continued to get all the PT when they clearly aren't doing their jobs. This means that McGuire-Satt-Rhule all approve of them getting all the snaps when they've clearly put shit effort in their route running AND perimeter blocking.

How TF do we have all 3 coaches in agreement on this? It's completely unacceptable. It looks bad on Rhule that he allows that to go on. He can override a position coach. Satt can override a position coach. Does McGuire have nudes of these guys or something? Why is he not getting vetoed?

Now the RBs...unfortunately I believe we have 4 shitty RBs, so we don't have any options. But at WR we actually do have other options. McGuire is accountable as the position coach obviously, but this also means that in offensive team meetings, Rhule and Satt are also in agreement that those guys should continue getting all the PT. That's really un-fucking-believable to me. I honestly don't get it. They should have been benched several weeks ago for that shit effort.

It is possible promises were made to our two senior big WR transfers. Both have shown flashes, but both have also shown too much meh. Far too much meh

I hoped they would play Lloyd more this season. Probably will these last 2 (hopefully 3), games. Plus whoever Holgs was talking about - I bet that kid gets some snaps.

I would also like to see Carter Nelson involved a lot more. We need playmakers, he is by far our most athletic TE. I know they don't list him as TE, but he should be.

I am out on McGoobers. Too young, no experience and even looks and talks like he is about to turn 21. 7 mil to spend on assistants and McGoober is our WR coach?? IDK man.

I'm not there to see other players and practices to truly guage who should be playing, but it doesn't look like we have had tried enough WR kids thus far.

As far as RB - Dowdell is frustrating. Has the tools, but doesn't hit the holes or make anyone miss. EJ is a bit better, but still lacking overall. Rhamir is what he is and has been - not good enough.

We sorely need a couple stud RB's on this team.

That was one of the explanations I thought of: our collective is in to them for $100k's if NIL....so we have to play them. That's kind of a lame reason though.

IMHO if we're locked in to paying portal guys that should be all the more reason to bench them if they don't perform. "You're still getting your $200k - now sit the bench and STFU"

I mean, we paid all that money to Ochaun Mathis & he sat the bench a lot. And he was way more accomplished than either Banks or Neyor.

Mathis was a different staff.

I think a big part of it - if the "promises" thing is part of it (and it probably is some) - is that we want to continue to get 4 star transfers, so we want to show the better transfers they WILL play here. I think it is less about the $, and more about showing future top transfers that they will play if they come. I mean, I am sure the $ are part of it, but all these kids are getting paid something now.

I like fidone but the dude needs to sit and let Nelson take over.
Quit trying to run him periodically in the slot and let him cook in fidones role.
Feel like he could have done a few things on those screen passes fidone gets

If dowdell was any good Oregon wouldn’t have let him go.

We need a playmaker at TE. Holgs will get him the ball.

Dowdell still could pan out. He's only a Soph. We still need to bring in a couple stud RB's though.

We’ll see on dowdell. I’ve always like EJ, he just seems to have a better initial burst. But Rhule didn’t sound to positive on his pt remaining that high once Rahmir is back

Dowdell has talent and size. Can't find the holes though, and his blocking is not good.

Don't like Rhule saying that about Rhamir vs EJ.

Couple things from an old corporate guy 🤣

If Rhule wants to be the inspirational, mentor, good guy that everyone loves and respects, type coach that's fine but then his coordinators need to be the hardass, get things done, not afraid to hold people accountable, type coaches. Satt obviously wasn't that type but it looks Holgorsen is so that's good. Tony White I'm not for sure.

Also If I'm Holgorsen I would be having a conversation with McGuire, Barthel or whoever else, and let them know if I have to come down and talk to your players about basic things like blocking and hitting the correct holes what do I need you for?

I think this is the perfect role for Holgerson. No nonsense, points out where the deficencies are and by who - makes it easy to pinpoint who/what/where improvements need to be made. And that includes players and other coaches. He isn't emotionally invested, and isn't the HC so doesn't have to worry about running a program. Really good fit for what we need as an OC IMO.

This is also a bit revealing about Rhule's lack of an eye for offense.

This has shown us that Rhule is obviously not a keen offensive mind. He allowed these shitty standards to persist for 10 games. And Rhule's OC allowed these shitty standards. It's a bad look for Rhule. I think if you had an offensive coach like Lincoln Riley, Sark, Jedd Fisch...he'll, even Scott Frost....they'd have stepped in and gone "Hey #4, #18...you guys are out. WAY below the standard we set here at NU"

It's a bit embarrassing when you have an outside consultant come in and go "shit, these are the standards you've been allowing all year?" It's kind of embarrassing for Rhule. Rhule may be a great CEO and visionary....but as OP mentioned, he's gonna have to hire a quality control hardass if he's not able to do that job himself.

Yep. One highlight for a career
Let’s be fair to IGC right now.

Until the hill pick 6 va Colorado his one play probably made Nebraska fans com more than any play the past 8 seasons. Gabe Nebraska fans so much optimism and excitement for a new season until the onside kick.

Eh, I'll name a few that made me pitch a tent harder than that:
2019 against Ohio State: Going pure 1997 playbook for a series
Really any triple option plays during the 2021 season
Heinrich running like a loose bull out of the trailer for the first time in months, looking to put his hog somewhere, last season

Any of those were significantly more exciting than anything IGC has done

It's hard to square what we've seen from the offense this year as far as basic execution with Rhule not being totally full of shit about "the standard"

Exactly. He should do that with McGuire, Barthel, Satt (TEs) and if he could, Foley and Butler:IMG_3111.gif

Comical you put Frost in that group.
