And urban hired Zach Smith. You could do that for literally every coach. Is now a good time to remind people that Petersen actually hired Lubick as his OC at Washington?

This is where I'm different, and why I'd be all in on Urbz. I don't care if they're only here 3-4 years, as long as they fix it, and leave it better for the next guy. I think priority one should be getting back to competing for the West and winning the West. If the guy hired doesn't have that ceiling, I don't care, I want suckatude fucking gone first.
I don't necessarily disagree with you at all. Like I said, I know those guys would leave us in a better place. But there is always a risk with getting the next guy right. Look at Florida - since Urban left, they are struggling to get it right. This is where I'm different, and why I'd be all in on Urbz. I don't think there is anything wrong with making Mickey a "lame duck." It's not like he can or would just mail it in - he is building his resume. But hopefully that would give Petersen and Mickey a chance to get better acquainted and maybe he can retain Mickey as WR and Director of Recruiting. At that point, you make Mickey a lame duck coach. Let him get to Cockeye week at least. He's still recruiting fairly hard and the team is showing some fight with him in charge. If you announce Petersen, especially without any guarantee Mick is here next year, you drop a bomb in all of that.
I know this season likely won't amount to much, but if you want to build for the future, you still gotta work as if it will.
I dont think Mickey would just mail it in either, but the team likely would and he'd lose some pull in recruiting knowing he's recruiting for a place he's not gonna be at next year.I don't necessarily disagree with you at all. I do think there is significant value in a guy like Kiffin or Rhule, who are proven and still have plenty of years left in the tank. I believe both Rhule and Kiffin would get us completing for the West. But their potential longevity means something.

If Turd's guy is someone like Urban, Rhule or Petersen (someone not currently coaching) and he is able to come to terms with them, I do not see any benefit of waiting to announce it.
So no news

It is, he basically just said what Severe said in his tweet yesterday about the 80%This dude has 679 followers on twitter, As much as I want to believe this, a big part of me thinks this is a big troll.
IF that rumor was true.... it'd basically have to be someone not in coaching now. So Petersen, Bob Stoops, Urban Meyer, Dan Mullen. Or Matt Rhule I guess.I thunk it’s Chris Peterson
Would be smart.IF, and I know that it's a big "if," but if it is Peterson and a verbal is in place, why not make it official and announce it this Friday? Let Mickey finish the year coaching, but let Peterson start to get a feel for the program and roster. He gets a head start on building for 2023 and you take away the opportunity of anyone else coming and stealing your guy.
Any recruiting that Mickey *might* lose would easily be made up with naming Petersen as HC and having a direction going forward.I dont think Mickey would just mail it in either, but the team likely would and he'd lose some pull in recruiting knowing he's recruiting for a place he's not gonna be at next year.
If it is not MJ, then I think sooner than later is probably best. At first I thought you should wait in case it affects the team's mentality, but I don't think it's going to change our wins/losses this year. I have a feeling there will be a push from the players to keep MJ because they are now emotionally attached. If you wait until the end of the season, I think you get a lot of quick, emotional decisions that move a lot of players to transfer. If you do it now, you may still get some of that pushback, but they have a couple of months to process it and don't make an "in the heat of the moment" decision based purely on emotions.IF, and I know that it's a big "if," but if it is Peterson and a verbal is in place, why not make it official and announce it this Friday? I get worried that it goes the other way and if you cut Mickey and the staff's legs out from under them midseason, you probably hurt yourself with player retention. If it is not MJ, then I think sooner than later is probably best. I’m wondering what percentage of this roster is going to be cut loose by a new staff anyway.I get worried that it goes the other way and if you cut Mickey and the staff's legs out from under them midseason, you probably hurt yourself with player retention.
I'm not sure there is a right answer, but it's a fascinating question

Can’t be much if you expect to field a team but we suck.
