Bangkok is arguably the most cosmopolitan city in the world. Any kind of Asian food is available but they also have very high end Western restaurants. Several years ago we were there on Bastille Day, July14th which functions as France's 4th of July Independence Day, and my wife who grew up as a little French girl wanted French food. I asked the concierge if there were any French restaurants in Bangkok and within 10 minutes he had a list of 5 within 3 blocks of our hotel, all of whom had a special holiday menu.
It also has the largest variety of fast food anywhere in Asia. McDonald's, Burger King, KFC, Pizza Hut and even Krispy Kreme Donuts. There's also a 7-11 on virtually every corner it seems, and they're like Japan in that they have a huge variety of food, drinks even prescription drugs you don't need a prescription for.
Downside is the traffic is the worst I've ever seen and I live in L.A.. The heat is no joke either.
