Tennessee QB holding out for more $$$

Agreed. And needs to happen very publicly. Players definitely deserve some of the cut, but they need to be shown that holding these teams hostage and screwing over their teammates isn’t the way to go.
Agree. If players want to be paid and treated like pros, then consequences should also apply. They can be fired and fined like other employees

I don’t fault people but once you game out the system as it is right now this type of bullshit will be very, very common.

And that’s not good for anyone,
The House settlement has the right basic direction - NIL has to be FMV for value created, and the comp needs a salary cap.

Problem is that it won't last because it is not collectively bargained. Plus, it doesn't have bargained for movement restrictions.

Pretty sure the schools/conferences would murder every puppy on earth if it meant they would avoid CBAs.

Tenn had no choice.

If they give him the money then everyone in the locker room is either pissed or asking for more.

Gotta cut him loose or get shaken down by the entire roster.

On the other side of the coin, players and their hanger on parents need to be at least a little under the radar with the money grab.

Maybe he was getting some legit interest and offers from other schools, or maybe he's just an idiot trying to work the system. Better to keep crap like this quiet and work with the school your at than force their hand, unless he's already got something better locked up.

as for the Vols

Multiple sources tell On3 that the Volunteers have begun due diligence on what quarterbacks will be available in the portal. Tennessee won’t be able to add a quarterback from the SEC due to the intraconference transfer rules: No SEC-to-SEC transfers in the spring portal, even for grad transfers.

Tennessee has already begun to vet several options, especially with the sales pitch of playing in the SEC. Tennessee does have multiple other scholarship quarterbacks on its roster, including redshirt freshman Jake Merklinger and freshman George MacIntyre. The duo will have a chance to prove themselves at Saturday’s Orange-White game.

Merklinger completed 6 of 9 passes for 48 yards last season. Tennessee will also face the challenge of bringing in a starter who did not participate in spring ball with the Volunteers. Sources have said that it will be a steep challenge, trying to assimilate to a new offense with new teammates in a short period.

Well his family was shopping him through this whole thing. I'm sure they have a place lined up

I bet he ends up getting paid well from another school.
