Rumor Target Town showing it’s true colors

This sucks and I am in no way claiming that is your fault. But isn't $4,000 worth of tools a lot to leave in your vehicle?
It really doesn’t take much to get there. I figured it to be less bc I’ve owned them a while. After listing them all that’s where it was. A lot were in a tool box and others in their cases.

My truck got broken into at my old apartment near Indian creek golf course. Used a screwdriver on my exterior lock and broke my console and tried to Hotwire it. Good thing they suck at it because I still have my baby
Was that truck a 2008ish Ford? Thieves got into my buddies truck using a screw driver to pop the lock and attempted to hot wire it.

Seems pretty shitty if it's that simple to shut off and you don't even know it was down. What's even the point of having it then?
IIRC when I worked at Home Depot in college I learned that a significant portion of the cameras you see at retail locations (I would have to assume hotels operate in a similar fashion) are non-operational and for deterrence only.

You should try parking your vehicles in the garage. I've been doing this for 10 years and I've never been robbed.
My wife leaves the garage door open half the time even at night accidentally. It’s nice living in a cul de sac with old retired people. Nothing gets stolen.

Hey, neighbor. I used to walk around and shut the garage doors left open in my cul-de-sac on the last dog walk of the day. Most openers you only need to push the big button and don't have to enter to code to get them to close. The other ones ... well, good luck.

Even if they're all functional if you move out of range for even a second they will typically not stop you.

Having said that I once watched a Hy Vee manager tackle a kid over a candy bar he stuck in his pocket.

It sounds like you were targeted. I wouldn't be surprised if it happens again. Time to up the security system and put a few air tags on your valuable items. I would leave a bait purse in plain site with a tag in there if you really want to get some payback...cough I mean justice.

Part of me wonders if OP isn't bamboozling us all. Theft like he's describing is specifically prohibited and illegal per Nebraska state law (see Nebraska revised statute 28-518).
It’s targettown, “bruh”. Did I do that right? #libtown mentality up here.
