Special teams coach candidate hot board ***Updated 1/18***

Unfortunately, it doesn't sound like we'll be hiring a special team's coordinator.

I’m assuming that last sentence is Sip’s personal opinion and was not a direct quote from Frost?
I would assume the last sentence was, but the part about someone picking up right where Rut left off is a little revealing, imo.

So no coaching changes. Fuck.
The two things wouldn’t necessarily be mutually exclusive. Mario could leave, for example, and Frost could opt to hire another QB coach instead of using that spot for an ST coach.

Like pretty much everyone though I, like most fans, would hope Frost takes stronger steps to help ST than just another analyst.

Could be possible that we'll end up with a fulltime STs coach AND "another senior analyst in an off-field role." They don't have to cancel each other out.

I mean if you fire Mario(375k) and Rut (150k) you could reallocate that to their.

FYI Busch was making 450k iirc.

I think if you go the analyst route the only way I'll like it is if Frost takes on special teams and let's Lubick call plays. This would be my 2nd choice, but probably the least likely option.

Frost has said in the past he doesn't know anything about kicking, so this option seems very unlikely.

Everyone’s favorite Pyrocy had a post in the “Sipple tweet” thread that said “wait is Mike Minter our new ST coach?” and it was deleted within minutes. Given his posting history it’s safe to assume he wouldn’t delete a post like that on his own, soooooo..........*insert dramatic music*

Also.....

Look like he has 1 year of STC experience at Liberty in 2012 before becoming HC at Campbell.

Checks all the boxes like Polk except possibly Pringles can. Might check that box too.

Only one way to find out....

How about a hotboard for Director of Player Development? Ron Brown is moving (being moved?) to an new, undetermined role. Supposedly Frost already has his man (and it's from outside of the program), but can't disclose it yet.
