I'm sure we have to trim some fat. And there are some obvious choices, but clearly we will lose someone who we don't want to lose like Hausmann from last year. (How good would this defense be for him?)

I think Gabe Ervin hangs um up.
Obviously Sims will be dropped off at the bus station.
I also think someone like Fidone might bail because his roommate (HH) is about to be thrown to the curb and he might think he could shine somewhere else. (I'm not ot sure he actually could but he might think that anyway)

AJ Rollins?

I also think 3 Freshman WR/TE guys who were connected to the DUI coach might bounce. Haven't even heard their names.

Does anybody have any ideas? I'm just blindly speculating.

From just looking at the roster,

Sims

Purdy

Borders (Good player but probably looking for more playing time)

Lynum (Has been great on specials & in mop-up duty this year but will be a senior and probably looking for a guaranteed starting spot)

Bonner (Rhule/Satt kinda fucked this guy's career up, I can see him losing 20 pounds & playing WR at JUCO)

Jeudy (Has played decently for us but probably looking for a guaranteed starting spot & there are younger, better guys behind him)

Kaine Williams (Just isn't a fit & has struggled to get on the field)

Kpai (Has struggled to gain weight & tbh, I wasn't blown away by him in high school. If we're playing 200 different linebackers a game and he still can't play, that's a bad sign)

Rahmir Stewart (A player told me he showed up really out of shape, obviously that doesn't mean much & he can still lose weight, and become a good player but yeah lol)

Snodgrass (Everyone says how much of a great guy he is, which is probably true but he can go be a great guy at South Dakota. Probably the worst take in Nebraska history. I highly doubt he leaves, for whatever reason Nebraska loves keeping in-state scholarship kids that suck and need to be forced into the portal)

Jeremiah Charles (Wager guy)

Smith Flores (Wager guy)

Brice Turner (Track guy that was a project from the beginning, could be easily recruited over, could leave football to focus on the track team)

Corcoran (Every offensive lineman got better as the season got on except him, then he got injured. The worst blindside protector in college football. He can go redeem himself at Colorado State or Tulsa.)

Gunnerson (Playing time has decreased as the season got on. One of Frost's "all flash & bravado in warmups but is fucking trash when the game starts" players)

Will all these guys leave? Maybe not. There are some guys I didn't list who might leave as well.

a lot of guys have to leave. Some can be still be cut under the new HC rule - they just can't be on the roster when fall practice starts next year. But Rhule can't cut anyone who he signed or anyone who transferred in. By the time the class of 2024 is signed, that will actually be 65-70 guys, or perhaps even more.

Obviously, you can "strongly encourage" guys to leave by telling them they won't play, but that won't work 100% of the time. A lot of guys who transferred in my put up with only having a small chance to play because otherwise they sit out a year (no waiver) or move down to something lower than FBS (yes, they may play but will be an environment than not as nice as first class P5).

Be interesting to see which transfers graduate so they can be a grad transfer.

Some of those guys already transferred so they can't again without a waiver, correct? Waivers are not happening.

We've got 11 seniors & 26 commits. Without factoring in who might be off scholarship & on some NIL type deal, we've got about 15 spots that need to open up.

DL, LB, & DB (groups with 14, 14, & 17 respectively) are crowded & likely spots for multiple dudes to move on from.

Isn’t a one time free transfer but you can also grad transfer without penalty
You're correct, a player can also transfer a 2nd or 3rd time before graduating. However, they would need a waiver to be immediately eligible, otherwise they would have to sit out a year. Which the NCAA has shown those are going to be incredibly tough to get.

That's why some in this thread that said Borders, Juedy, and Kaine Williams may transfer. They aren't going anywhere. Unless they're going to drop down a division.

two schollies are already open: Gilbert and Morton (yes, wtf is that guy?? Entered portal toward beginning of season)

QB: Sims, Purdy
RB: Ervin, Ives (coaches have mentioned development though, so probably stays)
WR: IGC, Bullock (won’t renew his schollie, back to walk on status like his hands suggest),
TE: Appleget, Smith-Flores, Gilbert
OL: Corcoran, Benhardt (does he try pro? Hopefully stays but could see him leaving)
DL: Tagaloa; don’t see much else due to youth and transfer rule issues like Jeudy
LB: Kpai, Snodgrass; once again a lot of youth and contributors outside these two. Don’t see Borders leaving due to transfer rules.
CB: Safeeullah, Lynum, Morton
S: Stewart, Williams; possible Bretz and Stenger

-Edit, forgot about specialist: Bleekrode, out the door he goes

And as we all know The Simulation™️ will claim one of our top players.
