So 2 questions…

1). Would Joseph make this move without knowing who the OC is?

2). Did Joseph leave LSU only because he was told by Kelly his status is undetermined until an OC was hired there?

The coach who won a natty and fielded one of the best teams of all time probably knows how to hire good coaches. I imagine he has high standards too.

As we all know in any hiring problem, you can never observe the true quality you want to know which is whether the candidate will be good at working at your university. You are instead stuck with noisy indicators that and this leads you to sometimes hire a candidate with good indicators who turns out to suck ass. I think Joseph has mostly positive indicators and based on that he's a good hire, even if he ends up sucking ass

1) I lean towards no.

2) Something tells me Brian Kelly wasn’t ready to hire him right away so Mickey said fuck it. I don’t know that to be true. Just speculating. We’ll likely not know what the factors were here and if he had an option to stay on staff at LSU.
