So um, Bourbon thread? Yeah, Bourbon Thread.

My wife got me this bottle dispenser for my first Father’s Day (my son was actually born this Monday the day after Father’s Day), my MIL &FIL got me the wooden whiskey glasses and my parents got me the bottle of Kentucky Owl - Takumi for Father’s Day….. figured I should put it all together and try it today since we are all home and starting to get kind of settled. My first order of business is to try the little sample of Weller antique tonight that @Scott Hall gave me.

Congrats on becoming a dad man, it’s awesome! Looks like you’ve made quite the dent in that weller SR as well.

Thanks man, yes we have. Whenever the work day is over and my dad and I want a drink we have a glass of that. We seem to work on my whiskey supply more than we work on his at mom and dads house 🤣🤣🤣

I don’t have a refined palate or anything more of a I know what I like kind of person. I just blind taste tested OWA107 vs Bardstown wheated which is 106. I liked the OWA better but it was very very close. When you factor in cost and availability Bardstown takes it IMO.

I picked up a bottle of Bardstown Wheated last weekend. Available at most liquor stores in my area for $45-49. If I ever see a Weller bottle, I’ll let everyone know. I like all of their normally available bottlings, but I’m either buying them on line or bringing them back from somewhere else.

The Bardstown was relatively close in taste to Weller SR, though hotter. Definitely worth a place on the shelf and will likely end my constant search for Weller.

So what is everyone’s favorite bottle? Not brand, but specific bottle they have had. I have favorite bottles from specific brands or distillers, but overall, my favorite bottle I have had has been a Russell’s 13 Batch 1.

Had a Stagg jr. I’ll have to look up which release. It was glorious

It probably isn’t the best one I’ve had but it’s the one that I can recall by name: Bookers Toogies Invitation. 2016-03. I drank three bottles of it and ended up buying another 3 to hold onto. Think I have one opened and one still sealed. It’s an example I use for a high proof that can be super smooth when people complain about high proofs.

129 proof, 6 years aged. Paid $70 a bottle back then.
