Ya, I am at the point where I realize that tough decisions need to be made. We aren't giving these guys scholarships to simply be good teammates and locker room guys - they are here to be football players. If Rhule and Co believe that Mazzccua and/or whoever will help make us a more competitive team, then unfortunately that means guys that aren't performing will need to move on. Like it or not, hat is what needs to happen.Which is why i qualified it by saying if they are being a good teammate and doing the right things.
There will definitely be some, but if we get a few more guys it might have to be 10. Thats a pretty large number after the amount we just had. It might be needed but I hope we dont have to force a bunch out.
I agree 100% when you are bringing a kid with a high probability of helping you get better. We originally started discussing it with the Hornsby situation which to me is bringing a kid in who has always played QB, who is not likely to be a QB, to see if he can become a WR in the two years of eligibility he has left. It is my belief that there is a lot of risk there and I would not boot a kid for a situation like that. If I have to process a kid to bring in someone that will appear on the two deep day 1 then I agree you do it.Ya, I am at the point where I realize that tough decisions need to be made. Again, I agree. Mazzccua is a no brainer - he is better than someone in the OL room for sure.I agree 100% when you are bringing a kid with a high probability of helping you get better. My thoughts exactlyAgain, I agree. Mazzccua is a no brainer - he is better than someone in the OL room for sure.
Hornsby, if he isn't coming as a QB, is different. Now if you have to process guys who have been bad teammates or not working hard, go ahead, bring in a Hornsby experiment. Not so sure I find it palatable if the kid who would go is working hard and a good teammate.
and Mazzccua tomorrow night.Walter Rouse announcing his decision tomorrow or Wednesday per Dean.

The Huskers most important need this offseason is upgrading the offensive line. That's no surprise to anyone on this board and folks that watched the games last season.
As you all know Nebraska hosted two important transfer targets in the last few days. Stanford offensive tackle Walter Rouse visited Nebraska last after visiting Oklahoma and Cockeye. The big man (6-6, 318) texted me earlier tonight and said that his decision is coming in a day or two. He declined to elaborate more or tip his hand but sources indicate that he is pretty torn between each of his finalists. I do not think he's made his mind up 100% yet.
Then there is former Baylor offensive lineman Micah Mazzccua. He announced that he would announce his decision on Tuesday night at 8 p.m. and he will choose between Nebraska, Auburn and Florida. A very good sign here for Nebraska is that Mazzccua extended his stay in Lincoln while on the trip, delaying his visit with Florida. He did make it to Gainesville and this feels like a two-team race between Nebraska and Florida.
I really like Nebraska's position with Mazzccua (6-5, 331) and I'm predicting him to pick Nebraska on Tuesday night. The prior connection with Rhule is there since Rhule recruited him to Baylor. The Huskers are also creating a strong presence in Philadelphia where the lineman is originally from. This would also be the second big win this offseason for offensive line coach Donovan Raiola.

Idk one way or another, but could it be possible they just haven't removed him from the directory yet since the new semester hasn't started yet?I was surprised when some posted a screenshot of Zavier Betts entry in the UNL student directory. Apparently, he is back in school (I believe he left school after he left the team?)
I wonder if his portal entry came after a request to rejoin the team.
Glad to see he is trying to get a degree. Good luck to him.
could be. Who knows when they take you out if you take time off? Good point.Idk one way or another, but could it be possible they just haven't removed him from the directory yet since the new semester hasn't started yet?
My guess is that we would offer another chance to Grimes or Crawford before we try to bring back a guy who quit and then went and picked up a drug charge. I highly doubt he will be back on the football team. I could be wrong, but just don't see it.I was surprised when some posted a screenshot of Zavier Betts entry in the UNL student directory. I completely agree - my post assumes they said no. Interestingly, though, someone just started a thread in which they stated McKeown said on the radio this morning the Betts door is not shutMy guess is that we would offer another chance to Grimes or Crawford before we try to bring back a guy who quit and then went and picked up a drug charge. That would completely shock me.I completely agree - my post assumes they said no. Interestingly, though, someone just started a thread in which they stated McKeown said on the radio this morning the Betts door is not shut
