Just think how bad FSU would have killed Notre Dame last year!

This just in: I am told Notre Dame actually beat Florida State 52-3 last year. What an amazing coaching job by Freeman to overcome that talent deficit.

There is a kernel of truth to the general sentiment though. NU under Frost (and Rhule so far) and FSU 2024....all those teams way underperformed their talent level. Specifically recruiting star level.

Frost recruited in the top 25 final rankings IIRC. The record that corresponds with that is about 8-4. So when a transfer comes here he is expecting to see 5-7 level talent. That's why they always give these hyperbole quotes when they get here.

If Nebraska was already 8-4 you wouldn't hear these crazy quotes from the new guys, bc our talent level is what you'd expect from an 8-4 team. That's my theory at least.

**BTW I'm not saying we have the same talent level as ND. I'm just saying when you expect 4-8 talent level and you get here and actually see 8-4 talent level, you'll be so surprised you'll probably make a dumb quote about it to the local newspaper guy

Its such an unfair and loaded question for these new players. What the fuck are they supposed to say when asked the question?

I think it's not a secret that NU has had athletes these past 7 years ... I think even casual fans know our problem has been STs and coaching.


Which is funny bc I remember when Rhule was hired someone asked Tim Brando why Nebraska has struggled and he said "you just can't get good players to go there." 🤦🏻‍♂️ Like, that hasn't been NU's problem. The reason NU can't beat Cockeye, Illinois, Minnesota etc has not been talent.
