***Official don’t buy any bullshit they try selling you, offseason thread***

In Cornicator's defense,it's kind of hard to see around the absolute mountain of bullshit that is made up of all the games Nebraska has pissed away over the last 15 years

True story.

I’m lucky in that I lived through Devaney and Osborne’s teams and a shit game (Outside of most of TO’s early OU games) was beating K State 26-9.

When I was a UNL student through the glory years of the '90s (three nattys in my four years of college), you usually walked away from games with one of two feelings:
A. We kicked their ass and it wasn't that big of a deal because we were supposed to kick their ass.
B. It was a closer game and we were pissed because we should have kicked their ass.

There was only very small number of games through that period where the outcome was in doubt going into the game and you were just happy to win.

The first twenty five years I was a Husker fan weren’t that glorious, but it was still nothing short of amazing.

Usually had one pretty good OOC game that was likely a toss up, one that would be competitive for a half and two that just let us empty the benches. Pretty good games in conference on occasion with Oklahoma State, Missouri and Colorado, and a yearly sphincter clincher against OU to close it out. Cockeye State had a few surprises for us over the years as well.

I don’t think I looked at the program the right way until my high school playing career was almost over and I really understood how different 9-10 wins+ every year really was and just watching the domination of teams you should beat.

During your stretch, I remember only a few games I was surprised by the outcome. Wyoming in ’94 was a ‘WTF?’ moment. Washington State in ’95 was closer than I thought it’d be. Arizona State in ‘96 was a big surprise as was a relatively close win at Texas Tech that year. The Missouri game in ’97 was…interesting. Other than that, lots of blowouts and backups in the second half. Really good football teams as a whole.

The 96 Arizona St. game was a holy shit moment for me. Coming off back to back titles and playing like dog shit was not expected. Hard listening to that abomination on the radio.

I was in grade school in 1996. The real "oh shit this thing is over" moment for me was the butt fucking they took in Happy Valley in 2002

My 10 year old ass cried like a baby that night. Was the first game I’d ever seen us lose since we moved to Lincoln in 1994.

I was in grade school when that dick from NCIS, Mark Harmon came into Lincoln and beat Nebraska in ’72. First Nebraska loss I remember. It was very confusing since we’d gone 24-0-1 the previous two seasons, so I thought we weren’t supposed to lose.

This may sound petty, but I didn’t like his shitty show either.

I was at a wedding and came home and listened to the end of the game on the radio just in time to hear the Frost safety. I had memory holed the fact that we had 3 safeties in that game. I would think there are only a handful of games like that in history and Cockeye was probably involved in half of them.

I smashed my fist into my bedside radio and cracked the casing. Thought I broke it, but it kept on ticking for years.

I didn’t know Nebraska could lose. I was in shock the next day
