Excellent find. Also pathetic that we are near the bottom 1/3 in spending and to add to that we spend less than Cockeye, disgusting.

That's pathetic. Probably one of the best supported teams in terms of fans outside the South and AD pissing all over it

I personally think you're glossing past the fact that Nebraska is exercising some fiscal responsibility with relation to baseball spending. Roughly 80% of those programs listed above are losing more than 7 figures every season on baseball.

Nebraska baseball either breaks even every season or earns a small profit. If the Big Ten ever got its act together and removed their scholarship and recruiting limitations, then I believe Nebraska could maximize ways to invest more in the program.

That is not true.

But if your goal is fiscal responsibility and profit instead of competitiveness or matching the fan support, we should DRASTICALLY lower our expectations for the team

1. It is true.
2. Please explain to me what else Nebraska can spend money on that will turn around an equate to more wins.

1. It is not. Only in our best years in the early/mid 2000s did we get close to breaking even or making a profit.
2. You don't think investment in a sport matters? You don't think it matters that we don't have a dedicated indoor practice facility? You don't think it matters that we spend many more hours traveling than necessary because we're not chartering flights like it was promised by previous ADs? You don't think our pathetic baseball NIL could help if it was decent? So we can spend way less and make a ton of money on football and still be super successful? Should we have spent way less and not gotten Matt Rhule?

LOL poh-tay-toh

Florida isn't a typical 3 seed. Outside of maybe Texas, there isn't a more talented 3 seed in the country. Heck, there's an easy argument there aren't 6 to 8 teams in the entire country with more talent than Florida. And a head coach with immense post-season experience. (Luckily, so does Childress as a HC and AC & Bolt too, more as an assistant)

Cags was the pre-season 2-way player of the year for college baseball. Gaytors were the pre-season #1 team in the SEC. A conference that is deeply covered, compared to the B1G or others not named SEC/ACC and to a lesser extent B12. They were also pre-season ranked nationally; #2 (Perfect Game), #2 (D1 Baseball), #3 (Sports Illustrated) & pretty much everyone had them as a top 5 national seed. They're ultra talented, more than any other roster we've played this season - by a large margin.

They've had a poor season. They're beatable. They haven't played another team since Tuesday May 21. But, they're very talented. And we're hot at the right time. Game 1 is going to be a bitch.

P.S.
We're not going to be facing Purdue's #2 guy. Or Ohio State's part-time starter (game 3). Or Indiana's on 3 straight short rest appearances (game 4) or Indiana's bullpen arm (game 5).

It'll be Florida's #1 (projected top 5 pick) or #2 then, hopefully, followed by Oklahoma State's #1 or #2.

Schedule could get interesting. IDK who it benefits if a lot of games get moved/interrupted:

Here's how I see it.

If Florida shows up like they have all year, they're very beatable.

If Florida shows up like they should have been playing all year, they're legit able to bring home a crown.

This wouldn't be Stony Brook making the CWS as a 4 seed (and beating MLB studs Aaron Nola and Kevin Gausman in the Supers in Baton Rouge) as a true Cinderella. It would more be like, "Where have these guys been all year?"

Not sure if this is who you were referring to, but it's Liam Peterson (true frosh):

According to floridagators.com:
  • Ranked as the No. 34 overall player and No. 8 right-handed pitcher nationally on top of being the No. 8 recruit and No. 3 right-hander in Florida per PG
Last 5 appearances are 19.1 IP (2.33 ERA), 5 ER, 23 K, 9BB

He definitely doesn't seem to go deep into games.

Something I found interesting listening to the chair of the baseball selection committee. He said they weighed heavily how the top seeds performed in series', which means weekend games.

We played 13 series and went 12-1. Our only series loss was to Rutgers. Assuming NU put in to host Regionals, I think we were closer to hosting than some, myself included, may think...

Nope.

Jac Caglianone, projected top 5 overall pick.
