***Official 2023 Head Coaching Hot Board***

Some names I haven’t seen mentioned yet:

Gus Malzahn
Dan Mullen
Tom Herman
Clay Helton (who we play in a couple weeks)
Bill O’Brien

2023 hiring is LOADED.
Do not want crazy Herman & his wife. Dude’s antics led to Texas basically saying it’s not worth it. Anger issues, drinking, & more gate 25 shit but it would be approved by the missus.

both Herman and Bert Belemia are hard core drinkers. At Wisconsin the AD was so worried about him getting a DUI that they hired a car service for him. He's a huge drunk, don;'t want. I saw him hammered at 7 pm the night before our first B1G game in Wisconsin. I mean red faced drunk and all sweaty, while wearing a suit and glad handing with boosters. Would rather our next coach not be hung over sweating out booze on game day. Or marry or bang escorts. We've already had enough experience with coaches partying and it hasn't worked.

She sounds kinda cool
There’s some swinger rumors dating back to his time at ISU so she’s dtf but they’re both nuts. One Texas rumor is a booster loaned em his plane & they showed up drunk for the flight to continue drinking to the point she was blitzed & went on a rampage demanding they open the door & let her out mid-flight.

I believe (could always be wrong as I don’t give a flying fuck about Texass) that his being let go was more of the deteriorating relationship between the Eyes and Tom. They let rumors linger that they were going after Urban, Tom felt 0 support because he had 0 support, because the Eyes wanted someone shinier. They were looking to replace him because he didn’t win the conference yet.

I’m not saying he’s perfect, but he’s a winner everywhere he’s been. What he does for leisure is on him.

Gate 25 wouldn’t be a thing if Scott was even 30-15.

I’m wondering if working under Belichick changed anything about him? I’m not saying it has but you would hope it did.

Herman was weird at Texas. He would beat good teams and lose to teams who shouldn’t have. If you can’t dominate at Texas do you think that guy is going to tear it up at Nebraska?

Texas post Charlie Strong was NOT Texas post Mack. Very different. Actually probably quite comparable to what it will be here post Scott

My point is Herman should have did better at Texas. His recruiting was suspect and he lost games he shouldn’t have. Texas is a sleeping giant. Everyone knows this. Fortunately as a Texas hater they have pretty much underperformed after firing Mack. I also don’t think Herman is a bad coach. I just don’t think he is the best candidate to go after. Now if he is your plan C hire and the other guys say no so be it.

I’d consider him a second tier option for sure.

We are at the stage in this fun process of getting all the necessary names out there. Discuss them. Then we collectively narrow down to 10, then to 5, then our top 3 and we send those 3 off to Turd so he does what we wish.

For all I know Turd will hire some coach we go wtf. and who knows maybe it will be a good hire in the end. Unlike the past we have so much BIG money coming in there is no reason we can’t get a solid name because we can offer a lot of money. Nebraska has liked to go cheap in the past. We ponied up money for Frost at the time. We should pony money up for the next coach too.

I’m sure that played a factor. I’m mostly basing it on what I’ve read from Texas/aTm/Houston. Crazy antics were the norm, sober or fucked up. Herman fucked around & everyone in Texas noticed, no way it stays quiet in Lincoln, even at 30-15.

And he's not a bad coach. He was 7-6 in year one with Texas and improved upon that the few years he was there. He was just victim to the absurd expectations in CFB today where if you are not playing for the national title, you suck.
