New Rumor...lol...

Yep.

Read Chatelain's column today. One thing to say "yeah but 2021 team has freak occurrences/bad luck" so we need to bring Frost back because it couldn't possibly happen again.

Dirk's column exposes that... funny coincidence that Frost has had "bad luck" all four years at NU. What a coincidence. Or maybe you make your own luck and he's just a very shitty coach.

I used to belive the "bad luck" line of thinking but when the same shit happens 4 years in a row, it's not luck.
You can only observe a coin coming up tails so many times before you have to consider whether it's a biased coin

I mean I'd take the wait a year and hire a slam dunk knowing it is a slam dunk. If there is a compelling financial reason as to why we'd be fucked this year, I'm all ears for giving Frost a year to overhaul his staff as a YOLObomb to glory. But if we're going to be in the same spot next year, either swinging for the fences or fucked city, there's no reason to retain Wood River Jennings
Agreed. I just don’t want to make a hire just to wash off the turd stains we have now and then we’re doing this bullshit all over again.

That scares the hell out of me. PTSD to the max.

The lowering of the bar by Frost has made me worry about it less. I'm not going to cum in my pants if they hire Dave Clawson but if he gets you to 8-5/7-6 like he's mostly done at Wake the last 5 years, you're sure as shit better off than you are now.

I'm a degenerate gambler so I sure as shit understand the "my luck has to improve next time, let's run it back" syndrome. But you also need to know when to step away from the table.

I fully admit that there's A CHANCE Frost picks up a good QB in the portal next year and all these close losses turn to wins. But there's also the possible reality that he's just a 4-8 coach, this is what he does. We have 4 years of it now.

I'm done gambling w this guy. I'm cutting my losses and leaving the table.

Remember we're not comparing this to 9-3 anymore. We're comparing it to 4-8, because that's what we've got now. Dave Clawson can ABSOLUTELY do better than 4-8 with our resources here at Nebraska. That's not even a question.

Make a list of 20 "gettable" HC candidates for NU. Not long shots Stoops or Meyer, but serious mid to top tier candidates that we could get. ALL 20 of those candidates could do better than 4-8 at Nebraska with the resources we have. I'm dead serious.

There is ZERO risk for this coaching hire. It's impossible not to pick a coach that can't do better than Frost in the W/L category. Yes I know we picked a pre-retired Mike Riley and people have PTSD from that. But that was a once in a blue moon fuck up by a kamikaze AD who had no business being here. That type of hire will not be made by Alberts.

What if you could eat shit for another year and then eat prime rib rather than being stuck with chicken that could be filled with shit?
The issue is you don’t know if the guy you want will be there next year. You can’t wait around if your coach is failing horribly. On recruiting alone you fire Frost. You don’t need another year putting whoever you hire behind more.

I’m not looking at this roster and thinking that we aren’t talented enough to win a lot of games. Matter of fact, the talent on this team is one of the reasons against keeping the current staff. This team has top 20 talent on it and should be in the top 25 minimum.

If anyone got done watching any of our games and said we lost because we weren’t talented enough to win theyre an idiot. Saturday is the only game I think it’ll be evident that we don’t have the horses to win the game.

I get triggered bad when anyone says that you can’t recruit here. They should just say “I’m stupid” and save everyone the time. This staff hasn’t had a winning season and they haven’t failed to recruit talent that puts us on par with Michigan and Penn St and I’m saying that with a straight face.

To the original post…

Not a chance this is true. But we are going to hear much more wild rumors the next 3 weeks. This will end up being a mild one.

If we make a move, we will have to make a splash or I see zero reason to make a move. I can’t be convinced that we should light 22 million on fire so that we can go hire some dude you have to Google or convince yourself will be good. It can get worse.

Couldn't agree more. The lazy narrative of it being impossible to recruit and succeed here just because the last few hires have been outright debacles from the moment we fired the prior coach is so overplayed. With a stable admin and coherent staff, we would be a Top 25 team perennially. We have some disadvantages, sure. But we have advantages as well.

I follow UNO probably closer than anyone and this is so true, when he has to make a hire he’s killed it each time. “But but but it’s not big time big ten hires” who gives a fuck if a person is talented at hiring talented people it can translate to any level

The Dean Blaise and Jay Mims hires were probably his finest hours.

I wouldn't mind a less experienced coach if the coordinators were guys like....Gary Patterson for DC 🙂

Yeah year 1 with an easy game 1 being cancelled and then a QB who is playing well gets hurt that is bad luck.

Your punter punting to the wrong side of the field costing you a game in year 4 is bad coaching.

There is no waiting a year. There are a handful of prime-to-prime light job openings each and every year because some fanbases apparently still have standards. A few of you are embarrassing beyond words at this point.

Exactly, also if Frost gets another year recruiting will be bad again and set us back even further for a new coach.

Everyone forgets the “bad luck” has been building & become the culture for years
The LeKevin Fumble against TT
The Terrance Nunn fumble vs Texas
9 fumbles against Cockeye St
:01 back on the clock
The BYU Hail Mary
The Illinois botched clock bleed
The thunderstorm
& 18 1 score losses under Frost (mostly bizzare)

We don’t have an “eraser” like Suh, Ameer or Rex to turn the tide
Instead we’ve got a once in a decade physical talent at QB who “erases” wins with decisions & now has PTSD so bad he vapor locks under any adversity
Frosts inexperience & compassion for the kid might sink him at Nebraska
But watch him reappear elsewhere in a couple years with a QB who isn’t broken mentally & it looks like UCF Again
While we are in year 2-3 of going 5-7 with Narduzzi or Clawson

I’d believe it
Agree.

As the board's outsider here's how I see it.(I realize no one gives AF)

Since the turn of the century Nebraska has fired
- The hand-picked successor of "The Legend".
- An NFL offensive "genius"
- The fan favorite
- The nice guy
All (mostly)regardless of wins/losses for a variety of reasons only the fanbase can justify.

Now there are loud calls for firing the "Favorite Son".

This job has to be viewed as radioactive to coaches with options.

Going all in on Frost sends the signal that Turd will give a coach time(unlike his predecessors) and stop the coaching carousel of the last two decades. Meanwhile he's limiting the financial exposure of a buyout.(Turd seems to be very mindful of the $$) And Scotch just might make it work. If not, after three years the "radioactive" perception has lessened in the coaching community, as will the financial impact of a buyout.(provided they structure the extension appropriately)

Additionally, I feel that this board is the exception. Most of the fanbase(at least the soft-headed psychos I interact with) is fine with Scotch staying.

Cliffs - An extension makes dollars and sense.

I can really get into this nothing matter and life is pain vibe you've got going on lately.

To quote a wise man

"Make no mistake. Our days here are numbered and when it comes calling you should pray to your nonexistent god for a quick death.

Please continue to enjoy Arby’s"
