Nebrasketball Roster

Give me:

P. Hardaway
Drexler
Jordan
Nowitzki
Shaq

And I still would be worried.
Good call on Dirk - Fred likes that stretch forward who can shoot. But he also likes more of a point forward, so I'd such Oscar Robinson for Penny. Maybe move Jordan to SG and pick up Bird at SF.

I see what you’re saying. He’s young. That doesn’t mean he shouldn’t have been better and it doesn’t excuse his lack of quality. But I think him being young hurt him bad in that regard where it was easy to just push him right over.

He’s like the assistant coach in college soccer that lives on campus that nobody fuckin listens to and is too much of a “friend” rather than an authority.
Yep. He's exactly like that...AND...sets the kids up to have no real life coping skills or have to deal with anything even remotely close to what other 18/19/20 year olds deal with on the daily. If that makes any sense. Basically zero accountability.

In fairness, he was here to recruit and his track record was/is impressive of getting NBA level talent into programs. He didn't hide that. I heard him talk about it multiple times in interviews. For whatever reason that didn't happen here....not enough collective talent to get Nebrasketball winning. Soooo, it was a pretty easy choice to let him walk based on that alone. Granted all the things you alluded definitely didn't help him either imo.
Yep, for sure. Although some would argue he was really only responsible for one meaningful recruit at ISU.

Regardless, it's better that he moves on at this time. Didn't work out.

I think he also pissed off recruits at Nebraska by not fulfilling promises made during recruitment.

What’s the deal with him? I mean, I figured he didn’t know more than maybe a good high school coach about basketball and he seemed like more of a super fan than a coach. But cancer is a strong word to use. What makes you say that ?

The guy that told me was private about it, and could tell he was uncomfortable mentioning it. There was no context provided, but I definitely took notice.

It was in a parking lot of all places, but the family is very much all N on Nebrasketball.

You’re good dude. @Ext. 55 gave us a bit more and I’m sure it aligns with what you’ve heard.

I can see Fred not liking confrontation as well. He definitely is the most measured coach in interviews we have though. By a wide margin.
