I don’t disagree with this, and in what I see with the current staff is a combination of long term development (largely HS kids) and instant gratification (portal). We’ve seem some hits and misses in both groups. My perspective is that the guys who are in their 4th, 5th, 6th years of college should only be used to patch critical needs because they're not top end talent.
I’d say it may have as much to do with the roster limits and a required immediate change in developmental philosophy, with the potential that some aren’t as good as initially thought mixed in. When you think you’ve got a couple of years to get a kid ready to play out of high school, you’re OK with taking a guy who’s not ready to see the field. I’d also say some of it is Butler and Williams looking at what they had in the cupboard and what they need to do to get ready for next year.Right now for us, the best path to acquiring the best players we can is going to be through identification of high school recruits who we believe have some probability of becoming NFL players one day. What the portal DB recruiting is signalling to me is either that A. The high school recruits they've signed since Rhule got here are too green to play next year or B. They aren't good
But if you want to win at high levels, you've gotta have a secondary that looks an awful lot like some of Bo's with multiple NFL dudes and at the moment I'm not seeing it as likely for next season
Makes me miss @themillerflip . 🙏If I were the coach at Nebraska I would simply only recruit future first round draft picks.
Yeah they got replaced. You don’t recruit the amount of HS DBs we did just to go out and grab a bunch of portal DBs too. I think it’s fair to say whoever has been recruiting the DB room the past couple years is in over their skis.

Joe Namath is from Beaver Falls.Wasn’t Lance Jeter from beaver falls pa?
Meh.Joe Namath is from Beaver Falls.
There could be worries for the rest of our days on this one if it doesn't happen soonSeriously, don't let a dude with 300+ tackles off campus without Accounes Matada
I think we have been in a holding pattern with him but this visit might break that. Not saying we won't take him or stopped trying but they might start moving to plan B soon. I noticed quite a few recent follows the last week or so from Keith Williams (not Uncle Gorilla Wideouts) for OL in the portal, some not 😉.We passed?
