To be fair, everyone is on scholly in some form or fashion anymore. So it's kind of a moot point about the scholly. But I can understand bringing him in in general if he can't take control of the job.

The coaches seem to value creating competition. Outside of a couple no brainer starters, a lot of these transfers are brought in to create competition and build depth.

The center from Michigan, for instance. I doubt he’s being handed the job. He’s gonna battle Sledge, and Nebraska will be better for it. Same with punter. Koch is an unknown, bring in someone who will push him or take it from him. Nebraska will be better for it.
