They are bringing in 30-35 or so guys most likely.

They don't want to take 30 guys. Probably half of that.

They have a board that likely ranks people by position which they do not disclose.

Positional needs are largely not interchangeable. You can't take 4 guys you like at a position if you can only allocate two roster spots to the position. You may have to pick and choose WREs, for example, so you can get necessary DL depth.

Why am I saying this? It is very difficult to judge how successful they are by the battles they have won or lost to date. They are competing for guys until classes start in the latter part of January. They also may have intel about guys who may be entering the portal later - not just up until 12/28 but until 5 days passes after each of the 12 CFB teams play their last playoff game. There should be some very good players entering after 12/28. They may be waiting for some of these guys to enter. The guess was we'd take 15, we are roughly halfway there already ten days in with 30+ days to go.

It's way too early to panic.

If every bowl eligible team has guys that can declare up to 5-6 days after their final game/bowl game then there will be a ton more players going into the portal.

Agree, but I don't think it's all in our heads though. You have people like Dean and even folks within the athletic dept constantly building up $18.90 and how much money we have to spend only later to be underwhelmed when we lose this guy or that and then given a bunch of excuses on why we didn't get them.
