My head:
We’re just flat out a better team. We’re bigger, stronger, deeper and play more disciplined.
Colorado will hit a few plays on offense but we’re going to get sacks that will end drives. I expect to give up a a couple/a few touchdowns on big plays.
On offense I think we’ll be able to run the ball, and when the box gets up to 7 we’re going to be able to exploit a couple really bad matchups for them outside of their top 2 cover guys. I think Neyor and Banks will be relatively quiet, but Colorado had third cover guy against NDSU, who couldn’t keep up with a little white guy and got torched all game. If our run game is cooking, we’ll be able to shift things around so this guy is matched up on Lloyd and if that happens Lloyd might go for 200 yards this game, this matchup will be laughable.
Their LB responsible for covering NDSUs TE had awful, awful cover skills. I think Fidone will have a big day.
Prediction:
CU - 21
NU - 42
I think the key here is we’re capable of countering anything Colorado can throw at us, there’s just going to be a few times when playmakers make plays for them.
We have a few advantages that they just don’t have an answer for. Their guards have an absolutely 0% of stop Nash and TRob, they’re not capable of it. I’m not sure if you lined up their Center and Guard on either of our guys 2:1 they are capable of stopping them. This really limits what they can do.
NDSU’s safeties made mistakes that you’re just not going to see in a P5 football game, and they made them a lot. So I’m not buying the whole, “Colorado has the advantage of playing a tougher opponent.” The reality is if we were able to lend one safety to NDSU for that game, Colorado is 0-1 right now.
My heart: Anytime I feel good things about Husker football, the program puts on its steel toe shit covered boots and punts me right in the nuts. That will happen again
