Nebraska 2025 Win Total + Week 1 Game v Cincinnati Line Released

Its Over GIF

I think too many people spend time thinking solely about the Huskers instead of evaluating the schedule when looking at the win/loss number.

There are 5 teams on the 2025 schedule that will be absolute dog shit in 2025:

Cincinnati
Akron
Houston Christian
Maryland
Northwestern

And before someone says Nebraska isn't good enough to "overlook" anyone, especially on the road, I'm telling you right now that Maryland's 2025 team is going to be Mike Locksley's last team.

There are 3 quality teams that Nebraska will likely be small favorites over in 2025:

Michigan State
Cockeye
USC

There is one team that will be dramatically improved in 2025 after already beating the Huskers in 2024:

UCLA

There is one road game will Nebraska will play against a team that doesn't know who will play Quarterback in 2025, but always gives the Huskers fits:

Minnesota

There are two teams that will be very tough matchups for Nebraska:

Michigan
Penn State

You also have to consider other scheduling factors of opponents. For instance, in 2024, Washington and Oregon both played 7 straight league games and that 7th league opponent was coming off a bye. Washington got their ass kicked at Cockeye. Oregon nearly lost at Wisconsin.

Huskers catch a break getting USC after they play Illinois, Michigan, and at Notre Dame. But they do have a bye before facing the Huskers. Where will USC's psyche be at that point?

If the Trojans are coming off 3 straight losses, will Lincoln Riley even be the coach in Lincoln?

So here's my 2025 early prediction having seen what each team is doing in the portal and has returning:

Cincinnati - W
Akron - W, but won't rule out weather cancellation
Houston Christian - W
Michigan - L
Michigan State - W
at Maryland - W
at Minnesota - L
Northwestern - W
USC - W
at UCLA - L
at Penn State - L
Cockeye - W

That seems reasonable. Still won't bet the over but won't bet the under either.

I’m more concerned about the DL. I think we will be fine with the OL.
OL should be okay, but won't be as good as what we put on the field in 2024. Still a step back.

DL we'll take a big step back, which will negatively affect our already shitty secondary. RVP has potential to be a Ty Robinson type of player, but other than him it's a bunch of JAGs

I don’t think you can say that for sure. The younger guys have another year of development and Pritchett isn’t as bad as some people think in my view. I don’t know what Nash’s draft stock is but if he is suppose to be a late round pick or undrafted free agent I would try to get him to come back.

Does Nash have another year? I didn't think so.

I will never bet on Nebraska to win 8 games or more in a season until I actually see it happen.

I feel that way about beating Minnesota. I honestly think beating Cockeye is easier than beating Minnesota.

I also feel like the Big Ten personally tries to fuck Nebraska when it comes to scheduling games against Minnesota. The Gophers have only had to play in Lincoln twice in the last 7 seasons:

2020 - in front of no fans
2022- the year Frost was fired and the fans that showed up didn't give a shit.

Meanwhile this is what Nebraska gets:

2019 - At Minnesota National ABC game at 2:30 - first Network game at Minnesota in 7 years
2021 - FOX game of the week at Minnesota
2023- Fox Primetime Thursday night season opener.

Guess what is allegedly going to happen in 2025?

- Friday night Fox National Game at Minnesota is almost guaranteed.
