Nebraska TV Ratings Tracker 2025

I was hoping the NU-UC game would be higher. Kind of surprised.

Those Sunday and Monday games really bring in monster ratings. I can see why those teams want those slots.

I thought the same. It was the premier game of the day/night on opening weekend. And it was a competitive game.

Weird.

It started at 9:30pm
What if I told you I live in Alaska...which I don't.

The game started @ roughly 8:05 CDT, 7:05MDT and 6:05 PDT, so roughly 2/3 of the nation was in a reasonable time slot.

Just surprised since it was the major opening night (besides Ireland) with two decent Power 4 teams. If it'd have been on a major network, the numbers would've been better.

Yep late start and boring game both affected it.

Also I think neither team being ranked affected the rating. I took note of the CFB promos during the week for FOX and ESPN. They REALLY leaned on the ranked teams (which is stupid bc preseason rankings are useless). But you could really tell they were pushing hard any game with a ranked team.

NU-UC was an odd one to promo bc they were 5-7 and 6-6 last yr. And then you tuned in and heard Mark Jones voice which tells you it's a 2nd tier game.

All that contributed to it.

The retard announcers probably made a bunch of people switch channels.

The only thing worse than Marc Jones is Roddy Jones.

Also keep in mind ESPN purposefully didn't hold alternative broadcasts like Skyview or home and away team broadcasts. They did that for their SEC games.

When I say "purposefully" they refuse to add these extra windows when a Big Ten team is in involved. Even though they own Big 12 rights, they don't do it for that league as well.

They also don't use "crowd or band mics" for non SEC games. They absolutely try to manipulate the notion that SEC home games are better.

On the rewatch I noticed how they’d turn off the sounds at times.. really irritating because I destroyed my lungs for that game.

Fuck ESPN.

I'm glad you said that. Because I watched ESPN all week and you could definitely tell that ESPN was almost trying to bury that UC-NU game. It got mentioned but man every time I saw it, it had no enthusiasm whatsoever. I was hoping that since they had a Big 12 team (an ESPN partner) they might play it up, but no.

They could have EASILY had one of their top 3 broadcast teams on that. McDonough for one wasn't on a game until Sunday - he could have easily done that Thurs game. But they wanted that game to feel minor league. That's why they called the Mark & Roddy Jones team up. You can call me crazy but I believe they didn't want Tessitore or McDonough on that game bc they knew there was a chance of a Nebraska break out game. And they didn't want there to be video of some Nebraska players scoring highlight reel TDs and have that narrated by Tessitore or McDonough (those are ESPN's big SEC guys).

Contrast that with how FOX treated the NU-MN THURS game in 2023. They had Gus and Joel for the game. They had incredible energy. They called that game like it was a Super Bowl. This is all explainable and I'm not saying I don't get it...but seeing it play out you can see just how petty ESPN is.
