My Kansas connections are saying

Local news here in Phoenix claimed this morning that Pac12 looking to become the Pac20. They claimed that talks are underway for remaining Big12 teams to join Pac12.
So they're trying to remain irrelevant in most sports by raising what will be left of a now completely worthless Big12? I doubt that'd be enough to convince their major teams to stay if push came to shove.

Can you imagine USC having to play KSU, TCU, and WVU? Ouch. I'm sure their alumni and administration are not happy about those thoughts.

I think adding KU and USC would be awesome. Honestly I just want them to add USC, I just think it would be funny and a pretty boss move by the Big 10.

Exactly, they'd be watering down their sports and academics with that proposal.

IMO, there will be a merger between the PAC-12 and Big 12, but it will be the remnants banding together to try to maintain some semblance of relevancy after the top PAC schools abandon ship. The remaining Big 12 schools add nothing to the PAC, and if anything they would only dilute the conference further.

The last report I saw said that without OU/UT the remaining Big 12 schools were worth an average of $14 million/year in media rights, while the PAC-12 schools currently make $33 million each. For schools like USC and Oregon who are looking to avoid being left behind in the CFB arms race adding Big 12 schools only puts them farther behind.

That's why I fully believe the reports of the top Pac-12 schools looking to join the B1G. If they stand by and do nothing they risk being relegated to a lower level once the B1G and SEC finish their power struggle

I wonder how KU going to the B1G could affect that.

It's already becoming a group of misfit programs, but would the Pac-12 still want that bag of goods when another conference plucks out a third team, the main basketball school at that, from the bunch? Would USC want to be in that group when at least two, if not three with a KU replacement, were G5 teams a decade ago?

I think it is great for football. Should give us an easier win each season plus close game to travel to and help with recruiting in Kansas & Missouri.
all joking aside…good points here.

Not to mention USC considering all the WVA fans on the trip to LA…ouch indeed

I could only hope to have Ole Stuck as my insider connection. Obviously I am not important enough for that kind of high faluting elbow rubbing. I am relegated to my relatives and friends who work for or use to work for the KU Athletic Department, or are friends with coaches, or are friends with the AD, or are big boosters, former players, have kids who play on the football or basketball team,........... Lots of them come stay at my place at the Lake of the Ozarks. 2 were down this week. I got KU dialed in on so many levels. Heck Before I fell in the lake last summer peeing drunk off a dock I had Bill Self's cell number in my phone.

For you old timers that use to go to Lawrence for Husker games how do you think it is possible that a bar named after KU's mascot, The Hawk, would turn into a Husker Bar on gameday with Lincoln's very own Sidetrack Band Playing? KU fans thought that was a slap in the face, which it was. We gots that town dialed in. GBR!!!!

Did anyone give ya insight on if KU is the lone B12 school? Growing up in central Cockeye, last thing I need is ISU back our conference

my biggest take away from spending a day in Lawrence last weekend: their Caseys has 91 no ethanol gas

my wife was major butt hurt we don't have that because her fancy girl SUV doesn't take ethanol

Isn’t Kansas basketball a shit show right now?

They don’t really add any value in my mind.

Hearing all kind of stuff going on behind the scenes now. Talk of trying to bring in other schools to get the Big 12 up to 16 or even 20 teams, merging with the Pac 12 or of course joining the B1G. Everyone seems to be leaning towards joining the B1G as their best option. Surprised how many were totally against joining the Pac 12 to form a Super Conference because they don't want to travel that far west. But if they join the B1G they will have to travel just as far to the East for schools like Rutgers, Penn St, Maryland....... Lots of complicated stuff with TV Contract money or if the Big 12 folds they can't form a new conference and necessarily keep the built in benefits of being in a Power 5 Conference. This shit is above my paygrade can't even follow some of the complicated shit they are talking about that needs to go on with tv money, revenue sharing, exit penalties, conference bylaws, Big 12 suing Texas......... Hoping to find out more tomorrow but they are being a bit tight lipped. If this hasn't shaken out by next week I will definitely find out more as I have some connected KU guests coming down to my house for the week. Even if they don't want to spill the beans if I get them drunk I know I can get some 411 out of them.

"If they join the B1G" meaning we would accept anyone besides Kansas?

And Kansas is one of those schools is like going to Redbox and seeing no good movie options but selecting one anyway because you're already there.

i welcome it for football. it's a team we can possibly split with year over year. we potentially add a win 50% of the time, unlike our current 12.5% winning percentage vs Wisconsin and 30% winning percentage vs Cockeyes since joining the B1G 🙁
A couple wins over Kansas and I’d be ready to declare Nebraska finally being back.
