Hey TOTO, yore not in Kansas anymore!


Seriously - that's beautiful stretch of highway. Used to thunder down it back and forth to Sturgis and take as a scenic, leisurely route (one of several) on the regular back-n-forth trips to Chadron when my baby girl was bump-set-spiking her way through college out there. I miss those drives ... and watching her play the sport.

Pup had surgery yesterday and isn’t doing great. I’d rather have gotten the surgery than him. If I’m already a softy for my dog I can’t imagine how big a softy I’ll be when the kids come

Having grown up going from Lincoln to Wyoming every summer to visit my my Dad's brother, Hwy. 2 through the Sandhills was a familiar trek. I hadn't done it in about 40 years when I took it again from Scottsbluff to Broken Bow after visiting Denny in Scottsbluff a couple of years ago. It may be as close as you can come today to experiencing what it was like when Nebraska was in its infancy. Timeless, ageless, eternal. A national treasure.

My niece is a designer/illustrator for Mattel in El Segundo. I asked her about the details and all she'd say was there is an ongoing investigation. They apparently recalled all the original boxes that hadn't been sold. I thought it was pretty funny but she most assuredly did not LOL.

About time. One thing that gets overlooked especially in the produce industry, is that soils are depleted of magnesium and never added back to the soil unlike nitrogen and potassium. Plus I'm sure genetic modified foods doesn't help either.
