Good luck and let's hope the storm weakens some. My in-laws have a beautiful estate on Casey Key near Sarasota and they had some damage from Helene and that was a long way from the eye. Their beautiful pool is filled with beach sand now but structurally they are OK. Their back yard borders the Intercoastal Waterway and the front yard is on the Gulf. A direct hit would be catastrophic.

So glad my niece moved to L.A. after graduation from Ringling School of Art and Design in Sarasota. She still has a ton of friends and former classmates there so she's pretty concerned. Please keep us updated.
Appreciate it, sir. Hurricane Ian 2 years ago was a big rainmaker with a little weaker winds. This wind there predicting this time is well above a 100mph for some sustained winds with 4-8 inches of rain. Our ground is already a little saturated so if that all happens that'll just lay some trees over by the roots.

In regards to your in-laws, the storm surge on the west coast was bad. Storm surge is crazy to think about and what all goes into it. I hope they stay safe on this one.

I'll keep y'all updated as much as I can. I appreciate all the well wishes and prayers!!

Sup fellas! This storm is going to be crazy. Its already had tornadoes that are your sizes out there in the Midwest. Local weatherman said we are going to catch every factor possible during this hurricane. Rain, wind, tornadoes, and storm surge. Where I'm at they've got us predicted to have 6-12 inches with some areas around getting up to 18 inches.

I'm worried about trees laying down by the roots because we our ground is becoming so saturated. We got about 4 inches in an hour earlier.

Appreciate all the prayers and concerns.

Doing ok down there?

Update on my in-laws property on Casey Key, one of the barrier islands off Sarasota. Milton's eye went right over them but they can't get any information on the condition of the 2 houses yet. The county closed the Blackburn bridge on Tuesday which is the only way on and off the island so the caretaker can't go back to give them a report. They have closed circuit cameras all over the property but the internet went down so they quit functioning prior to the storm making landfall.

They are concerned but because they are on higher ground they feel pretty good. They went through both Ian and Helene with mostly just tree damage which is a good sign. The houses are huge, one is 9000 sq. ft. and the guest house is 3 stories and around 4000 sq. ft. and built to withstand hurricane winds. So far they've lived up to that.

Fortunately, this is a vacation property and their main residence is in Nashville and they weren't in Florida for the storm.

Your in laws looking to adopt a son?

We made it fellas! No damage to speak of. Ended up getting about 6 inches of rain. Did not lose power which I'm very fortunate. About 3/4 of Polk County(900K) lost power. The eye came through the county and the winds weren't playing from 12-6am

Talking to family, friends, and co-workers everybody came out ok for the most part.

Hoping that's the last storm we have to worry about this year. Gulf water temps dropped 12 degrees due to this storm and the cold front that came through.
