Pretty scathing take here
Welcome to The Platinum Board. We are a Nebraska Husker news source and fan community.
Sign Up Now!What is crazy, and who knows if this is right given the source, but I think Sipp said that IU's coaching staff is like an average age of 34 and is one of the youngest in the country. Can't disagree. Satt is not getting the job done, and has never proven/shown he can or will.
Head scratching assistant hires, with ALL the money we had to throw at assistant hires at Rhule's disposal (and we didn't even use it all!), and we get Satt, McGoober, Foldey.... not only did Rhule not use the $ at his disposal to hire a kick ass staff, but he went with guys unproven or even proven to not be very good, and it is now kicking his ass in results.
The results ultimately are what matter.

I used to think this. But Satterfield has been bad this season. Not necessarily saying we can’t upgrade from Sat, but he’s clearly not the most blameworthy coordinator from yesterday.
Bolded stood out to me as well. People are scarred from Frost, Riley, etc but Rhule is smart. The guy clearly knows what needs to happen. But there is no sense in canning the guy now, that especially isn’t how Rhule operates. He will put out feelers and whatnot in the background, identify the likely/preferred replacement, and make the moves within a few days of one another once the season ends in time for the portal season. And I’d be willing to bet if he does bring in someone new, that person will also have a few players they bring with them as well. He's 1000% right. I've been probably the most willing to give Satterfield a chance, but I'm now completely out on him. It's been plain obvious that the entire offense is a shit show from 2nd half CU on. It's gotten worse not better.
HOT TAKE: I actually think Rhule recognizes this and Satt might be in trouble. When Rhule made that post-game comment "nothing comes easy for us on offense" and said the exact same play goes for 20 yds for our opponents, but when we run it it is 0 yds. That was a shot at Satterfield. People thought that was a shot at our WRs having no speed or talent. But that was a shot at the OC.
I'm hoping Rhule will make a change at get Satterfield out of here.
Yeah I listened to Rhule's presser live and I was like "oh, we're taking shots at Satt now, I see"...Bolded stood out to me as well. People are scarred from Frost, Riley, etc but Rhule is smart. I don’t know what the special mix is. We have tried about every type of coach since Osborne and those experiments have failed in the end. I still think a coach can have a solid program at Nebraska. We might be better off putting pictures on a dart board and picking a coach that way. What is crazy, and who knows if this is right given the source, but I think Sipp said that IU's coaching staff is like an average age of 34 and is one of the youngest in the country.
Barring a big turn around on offense, Satt is probably gone. He's 1000% right. I've been probably the most willing to give Satterfield a chance, but I'm now completely out on him. It's been plain obvious that the entire offense is a shit show from 2nd half CU on. It's gotten worse not better.

Same questionBarring a big turn around on offense, Satt is probably gone.
So is Glenn Thomas the shoe-in to become OC? And is that a good thing?
No idea. I don't know what Thomas's aspirations are.Barring a big turn around on offense, Satt is probably gone.

343 yards and 9+ YPP. Whatever failings the offense had yesterday, especially given the experience level on defense, the performance was beyond terrible.I used to think this. But Satterfield has been bad this season.
His job is to create opportunities in the run game, short pass game, long pass game, screen game, reverse game etc......his offense creates ZERO opportunities other than Dylan making a Mahomes/Brady throw. That's not an offense.
There is nothing our offense does well. That's on the OC.
we can talk all day about schemes and play-calling. there's no shortage of OCs at other schools doing more innovative things or seeming like they have a better feel for calling plays.I used to think this. But Satterfield has been bad this season.

the thing that is inarguable is that the execution of most of what we try to do is terrible. The perimeter blocking is the most glaring example, but the execution is terrible across the board, and that is absolutely Satterfield's, he and the other offensive coaches either can't teach it, or aren't willing to make sure it's done right. every time I watch this offense against a team with a pulse, it looks like they are running a play for the 3rd time ever and the defense just watched the first 2
but don't get me wrong, the scheme is garbage, too. He does a terrible job of forcing the defense to defend the entire field (which is made worse by the fact that no one in the program seems to care about perimeter blocking.) we spend so much time in tight formations that only seem to bring more defenders into a small area, then when one player fails to execute the whole thing gets blown up. we don't take many deep shots and the plays either aren't designed for it or we can't execute well enough to get any yards after the catch on the short/intermediate passes
I just think all that comes back to the OC though. The buck stops with him.we can talk all day about schemes and play-calling. there's no shortage of OCs at other schools doing more innovative things or seeming like they have a better feel for calling plays.
