Mickey indicating he may leave if he doesn't get the job?

New coach may have someone else in mind for the WR job. Not that crazy of a thought

If a new coach thinks he had a better WR coach & recruiter to Nebraska than Mick
Then He’s already a terrible hire
Every WR Mick invests time into becomes a stud.
Mick will eventually become a really good head coach. His coaching contacts are so limited Thst it would be hard for him to build a staff. Although if he left tomorrow & took Busch, Conners, Applewhite & Beckton
He’d have the start of a pretty good staff at a smaller school
If he stays here when a new HC is hired, his salary probably should be raised a couple hundred thousand.

Personalities don’t always match. Mickey may want to go elsewhere. A lot of factors there. Don’t think you can just assume “Mickey not retained, new coach must be an idiot “

What if the new coach is bringing in Brian Hartline or Cortez Hankton? They are considered by many to be the 2 Best Wide Receiver Coaches in College Football. Or what if the new coach has a highly thought of OC who is also the WR Coach? Lots of factors. Nebraska Fans sure do get attached to all things Nebraska and in this case think there is no way we can do better than Mickey. I like Mickey and hope he stays on the next staff but not going to call a Coach a "Terrible Hire" if he doesn't keep Mickey. How do you know Mickey will become a "really good head coach"? We thought Frost would be a great coach and how'd that work out?

Here's how the full list breaks down:

1) neither of them are trading 5* talent up & down the roster to come to Nebraska
2) Mick has a relationship with the team already & any new coach would have to replace pretty much all of the limited talent on the roster if Mick leaves
3) I think Mick actually wants to be here bc he knew Frost was likely OUT this yr
But if he’s not the head guy, we’ll need to pay him. He’s worth every bit of 800k for us here. He’s probably worth more

Why are you changing what you were arguing. So if Urban Meyer was hired and brought in Brian Hartline, considered the BEST WR Coach & Recruiter you would say he is a terrible hire? Now you are backtracking on your statement. What if Day goes to the NFL and a new coach comes in to OSU so Hartline is looking around? And what proof do you have that Mickey will be a "Really good head coach"?

One thing I worried about by naming Mickey the interim HC was how does he step back into being the WR coach if he wants this gig?

You almost need to see us get buss rolled the next couple weeks to show Mickey isn't ready to him or have him take off that he is named the guy. If you are in the gray area you are likely not having Mickey here for long.

Lets be honest the chances of Brian Hartline coming to Nebraska are zero percent. He isn’t leaving OSU for Nebraska.

I didn’t change anything
Mick is a better WR coach & recruiter than Hartline
Players go to OSU not bc of Hartline but bc they win at the highest level & annually have one of the best QBs.
A dorky looking white guy isn’t going to be able to consistently pull in top talent to Nebraska. Mick is already showing you can put him in a cornfield in the middle of the country & he still gets in guys living rooms
Hartline at Nebraska has way less effect than Mick has had.
If we want to upgrade the talent here, it’s not going to be by filling the staff with white guys who can’t relate to players & can’t help them thru whst it’s like moving from urban areas to Lincoln.
Mick has been thru that. Oh, and he keeps turning guys into NFL draft picks

Don't get me wrong, I love me some Mickey Joseph too but to say he's a better recruiter than Hartline? By 247 ranks, I count three 5 star and seven 4 star wide receivers on their roster. I don't follow Ohio St. recruiting but it sure looks like Hartline is cleaning up.
