Inside Info Mario Veruduzco may be on the way out of town

At the time, I thought the overconfident, cocky, thought their shit didn't stink, attitude was super cool and something this program desperately needed. Looking back, that only works if you're super disciplined and had a lot of talent. We had neither.

I don’t think you have to have a lot of talent, you just need to play good football and win. We didn’t do that either.

I suppose everything about Frost will be confirmed or not after 2026-2027 based on if they make a bowl or better

Yeah I feel like the real lesson from Indiana is you just have to go out and fucking execute

100%

Mendoza was a huge pickup, but the rest of roster just went out and did their jobs. Didn’t pay attention to anything but their assignments and the guy next to them. That staff also did a spectacular job in prep and in games. I can’t stand Cignetti, but anyone who doesn’t respect what he’s done knows absolutely nothing about football, coaching, team sports, etc.

If UCF makes a bowl?
Well yeah. Didn't make a bowl this year. So if they don't make one next year, then he's essentially 1 lightning in a bottle season in 9 years and 2 different schools, no argument against him being a fraud at that point.

I think even if he gets them to a bowl this year, he’s still got a hill to climb to erase the ‘Fraud’ label. Honestly I’d need to see him on the positive side of .500 for four or five out of the next six years to not think he should have stayed an OC.

He has one winning season in eight years as a head coach. Even with the perfect 13-0 season at UCF, he’s 40-45 for his career, so 27-45 without. That’s a lot of suckage without that 2017 season.

Yeah, you're probably right. Some guys are just better off calling plays only for a living.

No shame in that.

Some of the most respected coaches in the game are coordinators, should stay there and know it.

I’m not sure he has that level of self awareness, and honestly I hope he proves me wrong.

2020: 390ypg/23ppg
2021: 447ypg/28ppg

Covid was a weird year, but it’s basically equal to 2024 except Lubick got more yards. 2021 he scored the same points as Holgo in 2025 with an extra 70 yards/game.

Frost’s offense were awful at yards per point, but they could get yards. Lubick certainly didn’t have the responsibility of Holgerson, but let’s not pretend he was justifiably fired unless you’re willing to say Holgo should’ve been fired yesterday.

I also will die on the hill that Whipple and Frost had an unreal offense cooking in 2022. Defense let them down, but those first 3 games were 🤌🤌.
I’m mostly referring to Mario, who failed to develop AM or any QB behind him. His recruiting ended up being awful. I’m still skeptical on Holgerson when I feel like he will be a Rhule scapegoat next season.

Most of those numbers can be attributed to frost, not Lubick. Whipple was brought in to call the offense & I don’t think Lubick would’ve had the same production as frost. I don’t even think he’s a full time OC since he’s left nebrasKa

Mario's a trip. There's a coach on another site I used to talk to who talked about running into him at a bar very early on, and Mario talked to him about his philosophies for an hour or two.

Dude said Mario was a genius level thinker with encyclopedic knowlede of everything biomechanical and could break things down physically more than anyone he'd ever seen (believe he has a PhD paper on the subject IIRC).

Obviously didn't translate into on-the-field results, but wasn't for lack of smarts.
Those things are helpful as a serial killer.
