Carmel Catholic On300 2027 quarterback Trae Taylor took visits to Nebraska and Texas A&M this week as the blue-chipper continues to work through his process.

Both are giving him a lot to think about ahead of his June 6 commitment date.

Taylor has been to Lincoln several times.

“Nebraska was off the charts,” Taylor said. “I’ve said it before my relationship with that whole staff is different. I’m not just talking about the coaches but the whole building. Their sports broadcasting was awesome. But being able to really pick Dylan’s (Raiola) brain on this process and why he picked Nebraska at the end was so helpful. Especially as I move into trying to pick a school.”

Taylor took his second visit to Texas A&M this weekend.

“The trip was great,” Taylor said. “Their sports broadcasting degree is the best I saw. Just nudging out Nebraska in that department. Coach Klein was awesome to be around. I think we both finally really got comfortable around each other. Felt more natural this visit.

“It was great seeing Coach Elko out there coaching and seeing the intensity out there. The offense looks more diverse from what I saw.”

Taylor has also taken recent visits to his other finalists in LSU, Illinois and Michigan. He’s also checked in on some other programs including Georgia and Notre Dame. He’ll head to Auburn this coming week.

On3 tabs Taylor as the nation’s No. 6 quarterback and No. 86 prospect overall.

That does sound good for N. He seemed more enthusiastic in his comments about us, at least that’s the way it read in print.

I like that he mentioned his education and college major for both visitors, the first thing he mentioned, in fact. Shows he has a pretty good head on his shoulders and is thinking about more than just a big bag and the right now. Of course, he put us in second as far as that goes, but he remarked how close it was, so I don’t think it will be that much of a detriment if we come out ahead on the football and relationship side.

Not to be a downer, but I'm not even sure why I'm following this thread. With the portal I couldn't care less about high school recruiting unless it's an elite prospect. I'm at a complete 180 following college football recruiting from a few years ago. It could also be that I'm more interested in the transfer portal for college basketball too.

OK. Though some of the croots listed above are elite prospects.

I oddly am the same. I used to be all in on recruiting - I could tell you every kid that was visiting, what position they played and where they are from. Now it just doesn't seem all that important...
