True, Jerry Kill was doing wonders there, but Fleck took them to another level and made them more competitive.

The Mike Riley 2.0 thing doesn't make sense to me. Campbell is 2 decades younger. Campbell is comparable to what Fleck has produced. Both of them have produced one great season and a bunch of good but not great seasons and have basically the same resume blemishes. Can they recruit at a high level? Why haven't they beaten Cockeye with any regularity? Now Fleck might be a more attractive candidate because he's got a record of success in our division, but he's just as much Mike Riley as Matt Campbell is

True Jerry kill had Minnesota and in good shape. Just Tracy Claeys was just a poor HC cupboards were never bare there like they are here.

Another big difference is Campbell is a midwest guy and understands the landscape better. Riley was pretty much geographically tied to the west coast most of his life.

Claeys got fired for an SA thing tho and he was 9-4 in his one full season. Other than the one season where Fleck had two first round talent WRs, the record from Kill on is the same.
Let's not say things we can't take back. The coaching improvement of peepants over Campbell is not worth selling your soul to the devil of LGBTQ+. That's who peepants worships.
It's really not hate. I would just be disappointed we settled.

If we end up with him after striking out on better options then fine. He's not something to strive for from the beginning.

Outside of Gundy and Whittingham, I don't know who else is reasonably on the board who has a better resume, but my brain is basically melting down with the sheer volume of candidates that I probably can't remember all of them
Urban and Lane train. I'll consider them not reasonably on the board when them or Turd personally tell me they're out.
Also Aranda and Rhule are higher on my board than MC.
Your best argument for MC is that he's a little worse than Peepants?

No. It's that he's got 6ish years of P5 experience, a fiesta bowl, 5 winning seasons, has established crootin inroads in lots of the Midwest, and is young. I like Whittingham, Gundy, and Stoops more than him, but idk how movable they are. Probably Kiffin too. Kiffin doesn't.have as long of track record, but he's a top notch crooter.

Matt Campbell is fucking awful in games that are supposed to be tight (spread -3-+3).
His team's are fucking awful vs the B1G west.
His team's never played with expectations and the one time they did they massively underachieved.
He is the Midwest younger version is Riley

Watching him against Aranda made me want Aranda more. Dude seems to adjust quickly in game where Campbell and/or his staff don’t seem quite as sharp.

Yeah Riley was a walking limp dick. Not sure Campbell is there yet.
He is a very meh coach.
The one time he had expectations he crapped his pants and said "my goal isn't to win the conference but to be the most together team in Cockeye state university history....." Like who says that? That would be the younger Midwest version of Riley does.
